LS1-Edit/Program Can't "establish" connection???
It was working, and now all it does is tells me that it cannot establish a connection, then it says "attempting to re-establish connection with PCM"... but to no avail! It then tells me to exit the progarm and check/re-attach the rs-232 cable...
I'm starting to get a little upset
(obviously) I've checked my computer and the com port seems to be just fine. Of course I've attached and re-attached the Edit cable about twenty times. I think that I've tried everything.Does anybody have any hints/clues for me? PLEASE!
I just want to get this thing tuned

Troy
You could try disconnecting the RS232 portion of the cable from the black box, and running the Hyperterminal Test, to check the serial cable and the COM port on the computer. Go to http://www.akmcables.com/serial.doc (to the last page) to read about the Hyperterminal Test. Short pins 2 & 3 together and see if you get what you type echoed back. You can do this on the serial cable, and on the back of the laptop.

That's good info and no the lights are not working. But, after the test the com port hyperterminal are working fine.
Meanwhile... Ive been in e-mail with Dave from Carputing (quick response, and late on a Sunday night
). Dave's had me check a few things and I've now opened up the "box" on the cable to find what appears to be a broken run on the board. I can't really say that it was fried nor can I say it wasn't, but how else would it break under "normal operating conditions"? We'll see what happens from here. Trending Topics

Dave will get you squared away.

Thanks!

The line that blew out was probably the ground that goes across the back of the board. I'm trying to figure out why it blew, so I can redesign the board to prevent that in the future.
Thanks,
Andrew
I get it now... Andy @ AKM right?

If so, I also sent you an e-mail "early" this morning about something. Let me know what you think, please. Also do you think that it's (the broken run) something that I can either fix or take it to an electronics/computer repair place that does soldering (on circuit boards) and have them "fix" it.

And I answered this in email, but for benefit of the guys here, no, don't try to fix it, better to work it out with Carputing. It's 'unfixable' without the right parts.-Andrew
Great service/reply by both you and Dave. But now I'm going to send my cable/module in and it's going to cost me $100
. I'm not really complaining I just wish I knew what happened so that it doesn't happen again. But obviously I have to repair/replace it. There goes the tuning money for now

Thanks again!
