Default Tuning Help Please!

Ok, so I'm looking at getting my LS1 tuned. I have passetter LT's w/ ORY, ported TB, Descreened MAF, Whisper Lid, Hooker cat back, NGK TR55's, 3.73's and thinking about a Yank 3600 before the tune. BTW is an auto. Now I just talked to a tuner and he said with those mod's I would only net 300hp after the tune to the RW. His price was $400. Is this right???

No should be in the 330 range at least.

Thats what I thought, and I've talked with another tuner and thats what he told me to expect. I mean if our cars came stock with, lets say 295hp, and there are plenty that were way more than that, then this guy's telling me all those mods were worthless?

well if he is considering the stall and it being an auto, it will dyno lower than say same mods on a 6 speed...dynos should only be used as a tuning tool, unless you want to brag on the net about it. track times are what counts..

Yup, an unlocked auto can make a considerable amount LESS power than a locked auto or especially an M6, HP also can vary alot from year to year & can vary with condition, I've seen some stock auto cars dyno in the 27x range hp wise on the same dyno my 98 saw in the 290's with just a catback exhaust and then I had seen stock 98 M6's in the 30x's too many variables really & im sure your tuner also doesn't want to guarantee you something he might not be able to hit no matter how hard he tries.

Use a dyno as a tool, not the end all.

That 295 will be at the crank, not the back tires. If your mods put it at 300rwhp, then you have a decent gain.

I dyno'd 316 on nothing more than a lid and a flow master muffler... and my M6 of course

Spray it though and the #'s change quite a bit!

Certainly. And remember, an auto has more parasitic loss through the drivetrain than a manual. Plus, a dyno is only a tool. The track is the true measurement of performance.
