Since there is so much controversy on this, if you do a search you will see one of two opinions:
1) descreen it ........
2) dont touch it.......
My theory is now this, only descreen half of it.
Really there is too much talk about whether it is ok or not.

LS6 engines in the Z06 don't have the screen. It's only there to straighten out the rough airflow from the stock air box. So if you have replaced the lid it's OK to descreen. Doing that will make your engine run slightly leaner and with slightly more ignition timing. The increase in flow is very small.

since you have LS1Edit, go for it......
FIRST!!!!!! make sure before you change ANYTHING, you check your LTrims and save your current settings....
THEN!!!! when you descreen the MAF, you can log the new LTrims (will be slightly lean) and you can make an adjustment to the MAF table (this is the only time you should mod the MAF table since you KNOW your LTrim change was DIRECTLY related to the MAF.....) with LS1Edit....

id leave it alone unless your aboslutely need it like if your pushing over 600hp YOU WONT SEE ANY REAL GAIN FROM IT BUT ITS CONTVERSIAL WEATHER YOU WILL LOOSE DRIVEABITLY and to add to that according to HPP adding a MAF is a waste of money unless your over 600 hp (perosonally i like mine but even slp says not to descreen unless your just raceing with the car because you can expirence a loss in driveabilty) GOODLUCK!
