Default Diablo Diagnostics

Okay, I have tuned my car with the hypertech program. I have offroad pipes and a lid blah blah. Thats about it. I am going to use my friends predator to monitor my diagnostics, just to see how everything is running. What values should I pay close attention to and what values should I be seeing? Thanks!

LTRIMS, you want them (-)
O2's at WOT, lower than 910
Timing at WOT more than 27*
KR want none!

dont worry about strims, rear o2's, and most else.

Thanks. How dependable are these O2 readings?

as dependable as any other means of monitoring the narrow banders. I have shown a consistent correlation of my O2's and wideband-cant recall the numbers off the TOMH, but there right there. Me personally, I am welding in a O2bung to hook up a WideBand as well as the Atap.

Okay. It looked a little lean to me. Under WOT in second gear it looked like the O2s spiked to about 940. I think they may have blipped a little higher but it was usually too fast to see. Even when it broke 910 I never got any knock retard. Does that mean there is no detonation and its ok? Had plenty of timing. ECT was only like 176*! Way to go Hypertech t-stat. I put it in 5th and gunned it at about 45 mph and got about 1.5-2 degrees of kr. Is that normal for slightly overloading the engine? Thanks

Andy, Lean is under 860'ish. In the 900+ is rich. There is a large margin due to the inaccuracy of the O2's when reading anything other than 14.7:1. So, if your reading 910-940 You are actually running rich, how rich,,,,well thats the hard part. I am welding in a O2 mount to my exhaust so I cna run both O2's as well the Wideband and not put the car into limp mode.
And yeah, with an M6 loading or boggin, may set the KR. Once seen at like 2* or something, it trips the low octane table, pulls timing on WOT. So to get it out of low octane table, either add more than 5gals of gas, or do a minor fan temp setting using predator and reprogram-either way will reset the octane tables to read from the high. "had plenty of timing" about how much is plenty at WOT? Should be stock about 29.5*, Mine is now able to run at 34.5*, not all the time as I am sure weather had its effect, but I ran a few times last week and I had a total 34.5* timing on the Qtr and ran some good times.

Charlie.

Okedoke. When I'm just cruising around and the o2 values are jumping around does that have any signifigance? During cruising they appear to be under 900 at all times. At WOT they look like they range from about 875 to 940. Even if it gets lean at some point, if there is no knock retard that means there is no detrimental detonation right? If it was knocking then it would retard right?

MAP, cant really tell you cuz it changes with load/rpm etc...

O2's will jump around while any position other than WOT where they should level off around 870 or something.

Knock sensors should pickk up any det. and pull timing via the low octane table or just a short duration if it is not over 1%.

So in other words if I have no KR I never get lean enough to matter?

Thats a general rule of thumb, but there are cases I am sure where the KR wasnt seen but damage was done.

we put it on the emission test rollers and used the predator and the snap on machine to monitor it. Everything looked great. no kr, and about 31* of timing.thanks a lot for your help. time to lean that biotch out!
