Prefer a handheld...... bring it on... what are my options?
Would be nice if you could just swap PCM's back and forth.... too bad it needs a crank position relearn... wonder how much a crank position relearn tool costs? Tech 2's are expensive.. what else does this?

Hptuners or efilive are able to edit a couple tables that adjust timing and fueling(i think 98-99 can't do fueling though) in relation to intake air temperature.
Basically, I have a relay that is triggered when i arm my system, it replaces the intake air temp sensor with a fixed resistor that makes it read the lowest possible temperature and then on the table i pull timing and adjust the fueling for it.
Working flawlessly for me so far, there's a lot of info on this site if you search, lemme know if you have any questions.

$479.00 just to go from a NA tune to a N2O tune seems kinda pricey.
Also the folks that tuned the car used HP Tuners, I wonder if SCT will work with a HP Tuners tune... or can a SCT Dealer scan the file that is in the car and put it on the XCal2?

I think what Doc is referring to is COS 5 in EFI Live. Not used it myself as I use HP tuners; but it seems to be a convenient and cost efficient way to do what you're asking about. I'm not sure of the price though. I would also as pHEnomIC more about the setup he's proposing. I've read a little about it and there seems to be a lot of success with this method also.

If you have efi live you could COS 5 it and run on n20 tune when your nitrous is armed.
I would just bite the bullet and buy efi live......its only a 1 time cost, unlike HPT.

EFILives V2 hardware will soon have the black box flashing capability you're after. Live also has COS5 that will allow you to utilize a single tune for your application.
What ever you end up doing, tuning software is a good investment.

here is what I want:
Handheld device that stores 2 tunes.....
1 for NA
1 for Nitrous
using my existing HP Tuners modified tables in my existing PCM....
for a lower price than 500.00...
DOES THIS EXIST?
I am sure if Charles Beyerch where still around and got the V8 platform off the ground I woulda been able to get this. He had a tuning suite that worked with Palms and smartphones or something.

All you are changing is the timing, right? Cant you accomplish that with HP tuners?
I have an extra ecm, and thought that I would be able to switch them out, if needed. $75 to $100 for extra ecm, then reflash with your stock vin.

I know of a $50 solution that is *exactly* what you want, but it looks like I can't tell you about it until Monday or so...
