Stock LS1 2000 Fbody PCM upgrade???
Hello everyone.
I wanted to know what is involved in a PCM swap for a 2000 Camaro 5.7
from what i understand the 01+ PCM is better for tuning, it also allows Cylinder Temp Bias settings as well.
i have read the 01-02 PCM is faster, and has more ram.
my car is stock with a STS turbo.
will i have any problems if i install a 2002 PCM and use HPtuners to reflash it for my car?
my car still has EGR, but i have it disabled.
please let me know what is involved.
and what part numbers i should look for to upgrade to.
thanks

Yea I don't think there is a difference as far as the PCM goes from 00-02.. I know the 98's suck for a tuner and have heard heresay about the 99's being difficult too..

No need to swap PCM's. You can use EFILive to flash the '02 operating system into the PCM you have now. By going to the '02 OS, you'd also have the oportunity to upgrade to one EFILive's custom OS's to give you more control of your boosted application.
If you are dead set on swapping PCM's, '00 is interchangable with '99-02

I'm also curious if the hardware is essentially the same once the OS is updated. If thats the case, I will be pretty excited. My Z28 is a 2000, and my PCM for my LS1 I'm building from my other car is also from a 2000 Z28.
I know the harness pinouts are the same for 99-2002...even the parts the 01/02 cars didn't get like EGR are there (because trucks got the 411 PCM and EGR in 01/02).
I'm almost ready to pull the trigger and buy a license to HPT too...

updated the Stock 2000 PCM with 2002 Flash.
car works great.
it was easy as pie with my HP tuners v2.22 software
moved all my data over to a stock 2002 file.
to bad its raining, i will take it out tomorrow to do some further tuning.
it was able to successfully fix my idle issues so far, next step is getting the VE and MAF tuned.

I guess then my only other question is...if I flash a 2002 OS into a 2000 Camaro...can I make it still show up with my VIN as a 2000 Camaro when they plug it in for the emissions test in MA? I think it'd be ok thinking it's newer as it should be 100% legal to swap in a newer engine of the same displacement and # of cylinders...but I don't want to take the chance if I don't have to.
