I have a 02 WS6 in prestine conditions as it has been sitting in my garage and is only driven a couple of times a year. I have been debating on whether to trade it in for a late model z06 or keep it. Something inside tells me that this car will keep its value now that pontiac is dead. What do you guys think?

i'm going to disagree here. The car will initially drop in value but I think 15-20 years from now , it will start to be a collectible.30-40 years= big $$$$$$. You gotta think that first gen/early 2nd gen F-bodies were common as belly buttons in the 70's but they started going up in value in the 80s and there were a whole lot more of those made than 4th gens. Considering that under the sheetmetal it is basically a Chevy , getting parts for them shouldn't be that hard to find, either. The last GTO being such a short production car might even be more desirable. I could almost compare these to Plymouth ( died about the same time as the Firebird) and the Roadrunners, Barracudas,GTXs and even some Darts are fetching nice coin. I say keep those miles down , garage 'em and stay out of the salt & snow could mean you'll get your money back on the car and then some.
Back in the mid 70's , you couldn't hardly give away a musclecar due to gas prices and insurance . The guys who sold those big block Chevelles Hemianydamnthing, and those Shelbys for next to nothing are probably still kicking themselves right now.....

how does the fact that pontiac is gonna be no more make your cars that pontiac hasnt made in 7 years anymore rare then they already are? even if pontiac kept truckin along for the next 20 years it doesnt change the ammount of ur cars already built? i think its somewhat asinine to even ask this....but eh...

Here's another point : The 1978 Trans AM was the highest produced model in the entire history of the T/A. You can just about sell a fairly clean car with decent mileage these days for what they went for new in 1978. Couldn't do that in 1985......

"Its a mass-produced poor mans car. No it will not be worth anything, sorry."
Yeah...and the vast majority are already beat to death. But...you don't see nearly as many LT1 SSs and WS6s as you used to.
These things just dont last with years and mileage on them.
So...clean, low miled F-bodies will appreciate down the road. But, like mentioned it will probably take 30-40 years.

Do you really want to hold on to your car for another years just to possibly make big money on it? Even if one day f-bodies are worth a lot of money, yours isn't stock. I don't know if you have any of the stock parts left but if it isn't stock and isn't mostly original when you go to sell it then it won't be worth much.
I think saving a car and not driving it in hopes that some day it'll be worth something is stupid. I'm a car enthusiast because I like driving, racing, and enjoying my car. I didn't get interested in cars because I wanted to spend $10,000 on a huge paper weight that I would have to somehow store for 40 years (and pay for storage) only to possibly make a profit. IMO play the stock market if you want to mess with investments, get a performance car if you want to enjoy driving.

If anybody thinks these cars are going to fetch Barret Jackson type money you are sadly mistaken. It's only worth what some idiot will pay for it. That being said there are alot of wealthy idiots out there.
Anyways the reality is that the value will level off and start to appreciate sooner because of Pontiac's situation. That doesn't mean you'll be raking in the cash anytime soon though.
Remember cars are meant to be driven.

Reality is.... they aren't worth a lot as is now.... and it will only get worse. Frankly.... I don't care.... at some point I will be buying a new car.... but I am holding on to my 4th gen. regardless.

Well, when I drove my car home off the dealership floor my dad told me the two things he should have held on to was his Rare Mustang and Full Dress Harley that he bought in the 60's, so I decided I wasn't gonna make the same mistake and would hold on to my car. I still have the car but the problem is with my luck, you guys are screwed! Sorry...

Have you seen what these cars are selling for today??????
For what I,ve seen.......They are about double what they sold for if they are in excellent shape.
So much for being mass produced...........

Doubtful, The V6 cars will drop 10x faster then they already do....lol
I could see the Firehawks have the slowest downfall of value...other then that rest will stay the same...they are just plastic cars with cheapass interior.
