Default Rare '01 t/a WS6 6-speed Pewter?

I have a '01 T/A, Vert, Pewter/Ebony, 6speed, WS6. I have been told that only 2 were produced like this. I was wondering if anyone can confirm this, as I am interested in selling. I know that is a least 1 of 280.

I am sure there was more than 2 made. I had a 2000 pewter/ebony vert A4 and there was 70 something of them made. What option (or combo) do you think makes it rare...the 6spd (there seems to be about 50/50 A4 and 6spd cars with LS1 Fbodies...MAYBE a slight more a4s when it comes to verts)? Tan leather would be rarer than the ebony. I dont know the number off hand but its probably 50 or so made just guessing.

Now if you get into options like traction control and disc changer and all that you could probably come up with a combo that there would only be 1 other JUST like it.

No exact #'s for 01's, but by using a sensible probability factor, you are likely 1 of 60 Pewter 2001 WS6 M6 convertible.

That data from above shows 129 Pewter WS6 'verts built in 2001. No telling how those were split A4/M6. But if you assume the 2 trans were split by the same ratio in the 'verts as they were in the other Pewter coupes, then there would be an estimated 64 cars like yours. No data on top/interior colors so it'd be pure speculation after that.

That is something that is available...so is interior colors. I have it for the 2000 and 2002 WS6 cars. I have never owned a 2001 so I never got it for them, but it is certainly out there.

I never understand people saying their car is super rare because there aren't many in that exact configuration...seems silly given the number of possible combinations.

The ones who think it's worth way more because they didn't choose some option that most people would want confuses me even more :-\ Unless it's a desirable combo like SOM WS6 or what not, I don't buy into the whole "rare" thing.\\

*edit* And while I'm here...97ramsst, I think you have my absolute favorite car on this whole site :-p

I'm not denying that it's 1 of only so many like that made, I believe you (though not 2). I'm just saying I don't consider a car rare because it's exact combination of every option makes it rare when you looked at the possible combinations available to the number produced.

Allow me to play "Devil's advocate". Assuming there were only 65 of these made, that's still pretty rare. My black on black isn't rare at all. Nice color combo.

exactly. its not rare. an unpopular combination, yes. less common to see an exact copy, yes. but 'rare' in the fact that people think its worth more then the same car but a different color.......absolutely not. there are LOTS of 02 TAs with traction control. i ordered mine without it. does it make it more 'rare', or worth more then another? hell no. my 78 TA is a hardtop and non-WS6, while many more were t-top and had WS6. does it make it rare? nope.

If you have color / option / interior breakdowns on the '00s and '02, I'd love to see that, I'm working on compiling all the info I can find into a single spreadsheet to make it easier to look up info. Once I have the spreadsheet complete (or close to it), I plan on posting it.

Thanks

Without seeing it I call that car @ $9000. THAT's it.

"Rare" should be only used when you checked the option list for what you wanted (ex: 2 door wagon 4 speed '67 chevelle 300.) These f- bods couldn't even be had with special gearing or a hotter motor for cripes sakes. RARE is all in the mind w/ the f-bods. It's all about the stickers haha. FIREHAWK... big whip. my $4500 98 z-28 will run next to it mod for mod (maybe better due to the weight thing.)

RARE= 1969 documented COPO L-88 Camaro.
NOT this f-bod junk.

In actuality, there aren't too many factory rare or valuable 98-02 f-bodies. Granted, you have the specialty built cars like the GMMG cars, but from the factory, there really wasn't any rare/valuable special packages. Was there even any 1LE cars produced during the ls1 era?

Now a 1LE Firehawk would be considered rare and valuable.

It's kind of sad, but GM barely spent any money at all on updates on the 98-02s other than bringing over the drivetrain from the corvette, and redesigning the front bumpers / fenders / hood. Other than that, there really isn't much difference between a 93 firebird and a 2002 firebird. Chassis was the same, rear end, sadly, was the same, most of the interior was the same.... hell they couldn't even get rid of the dam hump on the passenger side floor board even after they moved the cats.

So what's the point of this rant. Other than some really low mileage (less than 1,000) special edition cars like the 99 30th anniversary t/a, I doubt we'll see any collectible fourth gen 98-02 cars.

people thought that about every other 60s-70s muscle car ever made. and now, even a bare bones, plane jane 69 camaro is worth money. the more people use, abuse, and wreck 4th gens, the more theyll be worth in the future. of course it will take 30yrs to get there, but it wasnt till the 90s that the vintage muscle cars started to jump in collectability. reading through HPP or HMM shows articles of people who bought 70 orbit orange judges, 69 Z28s, 428 cobra jets for 10K, fully restored, in the 80s and very early 90s. now, just look at what theyre going for. obviously theyre not instant collectables. and it will take alot of time for them to regain, then appreciate value. for those of us who take care of the cars, when we retire, we'll have a direct connection to the cars of our youth, because we still own them.
