Thanks guys.

Okay, cleaned up the garage a little bit and got to inventory a few things that I'd purchased online a while back to see what I have and what I need, etc. etc.

Hello, old friend.

Thanks, there's some things finally coming together soon.

I had to do a bit of work to the car this last week, rolled the quarter panels, replaced the bumpstops and found out I'd installed my strano swaybars with too much torque on the bolts on the rear. Lost bushings on both sides, got that fixed.

Top end and cam setup should be coming home from WOT-Tech this summer. Then I can carry on with assembly.

Participated in my first Auto-X event on Saturday!

Was a fantastic experience! We were able to do 2, 6-lap practice sessions of the course and one 4-lap timed session.

Not sure where I placed yet, since it is PCA and they're still getting things figured out it was more of a fun run. I got classed with a bunch of STI's and an Evo with one corvette vert and a Cayenne!

The two STI's were quicker than me by probably 4 seconds, but they had more power and AWD. The last fast corner was a dead spot, too high to shift into 1st, but so low in 2nd that the car was out of the cam's powerband.

They'll be posting times on their website soon.

HAD A FRIGGIN BLAST! Got nothing but compliments, and had good tips from two road race instructors there.

Alan, submit a new topic for your issue. This isn't the place to post that.

Installed headers and just started test fitting things with the new valve covers, gonna have to bend some stuff lol!

Test fit on the wideband, gotta find the right power hookup for it. Already ran the wire and tapped into the EGR line so I can get WB readings in HPT.

I like your wideband ,,, any pics of the Tap into the EGR and how difficult was it to place that in the middle vent?

Whether you have a v6 or v8 you still have a bird man ... good job!

Thanks, I don't have any pics, I just ran the wire through a grommet with the Wideband O2 sensor wire under the car and up into the brown wire for the EGR pintle voltage that runs to the PCM.

It's not too difficult, just pull the radio out, pull that vent out and I used foam weather stripping to keep it in there firmly. The wires drop down through the box and around the mount for the radio.

Just take your time and run it clean and you won't have any issues.

Video from the autocross event, finally.

Two sessions, turn it up a little. I get some funny commentary here and there.

16 total!

First two sessions were 6 laps each, then the third timed session was 4 laps.

Spent a lot of time outside that snapping pics.

Well, I'll post an update on the car. Some of you know I'd found a piece of the timing chain tensioner while replacing the oil pan gasket. While doing a double roller, I decided to install a better cam from WOT-Tech since I was just two-bolts away from that...

During the install, I screwed up on the measurements on the piston to valve clearance. I am going to have to pay the price for my mistake and have taken a serious blow to my confidence in any further engine work.

Tore it down to inspect the damage and took it to Total Engine Service to see if they can fix my screw up and replace the broken/mangled bits. They'll do some machining/balancing while they're at it and assemble it. This should address some of the things that nagged at me after the original build.

Luckily, the pushrods bent on the intake side, but one valve did break off. I lucked out again as the valve stem broke nicely, flipped and embedded itself flat into the piston.

Dropped it off on Aug 18th, 3-4 weeks of downtime and then a frantic reinstall because I'm still in school.

What started it all:

WOT-Tech Thumper cam.

Dead plug.

But...Where'd the valve go!?

Now Kiss.

The same thing happened to the head of my #2 Exhaust Valve - mine however bounced off the piston for about 3 seconds and then shattered it into a million pieces!

(I wanted to go from a 355 to a 383 anyway.)

Good luck with the rebuild.
