PVD means physical vapour deposition, or in other words the metal is vapourized into plasma then vacuum formed to whatever is being coated. For the longest time it's how plastic has been chromed.
I understand the PVD. Is the chrome shinny or more of a matte finish?
Looks like chrome but has 6x better adhesion than electroplating. Hopefully more durable.
The size for all four is 17 x 9.5 with Toyo Proxes 275/40/17.
Got a 100 mile rear BMR 25mm sway that came with all bushings from an old autocross guy on Craigslist here in vegas. Paid 80 bux!!
Anyone know where I can get a similar great deal on a 35mm front? Lmao
Halfway through the LED conversion, of course the set of 74 LEDs were made with too low of an ohm resistor so they just burn and are useless though I could've gotten the right resistors... Needed a 3mm 12V LED for the light switch anyway so went ahead and got 5mm 12V LEDs for the HVAC panel and door bezels so I guess it works out as they'll all match each other. Plus a round diffused LED should work better than the SMD 5050 chip anyway.
Can see the new orange next to the original red, hopefully the other LEDs don't take too long to arrive and can get it finished up soon.
That has to be the most ridiculous statement that I have read here on tech in quite some time... the base C5's are laughable to the FRC/Z06 guys... The base C5 and the Z06 are two totally different cars.. Not just a wing and a hood like the Camaro SS vs Z28.
It is all about choices and opinions though. That is what makes our country great...
"Z06 stuff is superceded by after market or later OE parts anyway"?
Please elaborate..... do you base this statement from experience, or is it an opinion..? I too have an opinion and own a C5Z....

I had Expel Clear Bra installed on my '99 Firehawk. The guy is a friend of mine and he said that the bumper on this %$^&&*#$ thing was the most difficult piece he has ever done It's all 1-piece and it came out looking pretty good. He also did the Hood, Headlight Covers, Mirrors, and Rockers. Plus, he tinted the rear glass. The Hawk only has 23K miles on it , and it still looks great!

I just don't like the FRC, I rather get the base model I like the looks of and play catch-up in suspension and brakes. LT1 cars are laughable to most but it's what I like since to me the LS1 cars are ostentatious, that and I wanted a hardtop. Do I give a damn what people think, nope. I bought the car for me, not anyone else.
^Thanks. Speaking of my eccentricity I got a better picture last night that captured the amber interior lighting as well as better showing the difference of the new gauge lighting and the original HVAC. LEDs for HVAC and light switch are on the way, it's annoying not having the gauge bezel or knee pad in place but no point in putting them back on just to take them off again for the light switch.

That said the Z06 is clearly an awesome piece of machinery, I just wish they had offered it in both styles but I can see as to why they didn't at the time.
In other Firebird related news my driver side headlight didn't want to show up for the drive home, was able to turn the manual override once or twice and tried again and it came up. Guess will try the 180º gear rotation trick first once it stops raining since it's easy and free, otherwise I guess some brass or aluminum gears are in my future. Made it 20 years and almost 119K miles so I guess I can't complain too much.
Boxxx, I just purchased a 99 and the owner gave me BNIB plastic gears. I guess it must be a common failure.
From what I've found on here and elsewhere it is, the metal worm gear eventually wears down the nylon one. At least on '93-97 cars the motors are right there out in the open and it's easy, not so much for '98-02 from one video I found.
So get this ****, guess who already put in metal headlamp motor gears?(I love owning a car that was well maintained) Was looking at the motor and noticed the cover plate was in this little enclosed space underneath, looked inside the motor casing and the gear isn't white so I tap it with my finger and sure enough it's definitely metal(ended up being dark grey aluminum?). Took the motor off and will clean it and re-grease it as water had gotten in then reseal the cover into place and put it back on the car. Hopefully that'll be it.
Finished the motor and now it's a half second to a second faster going up than the passenger side, my OCD can't let this stand so will have to do the passenger side someday soon.
I sanded down and painted my SLP lid. Also had a local vinyl graphics place make me this cool bird to go on it. I think it looks pretty sweet. I know the rest of the motor looks like crap. It's a DD along with a work in progress.
I like the phoenix, I've thought about doing a small phoenix on the nose of mine as an homage to the older cars. Rest of the engine looks fine to me being a daily driver, a little dirt and all happens when you drive it every day. I probably need to go at mine with degreaser and towels again truth be told.

Thanks, Man. I actually got this car a year and a half ago from my Mom. She bought it in 2001 and drive it for a few years before parking it. Unfortunately, it was parked in the driveway out in the Texas sun for 7 years before I finally talked her out of it. The paint is pretty much fried. Of course, on top of all the mods that I've done, (it was stock when I got it) everything that could possibly go out or go wrong/break is doing it now. LoL. That's just what happens when you start driving a car that sat for so long.
