Default Older Firebirds????

I've got a 1979 Firebird Redbird that was my Dad's before he passed away and my son and I are thinking of trying to do something with it. Are there any other early Firebird owners here? I like the later models also, but would like to hear from anyone else that may have an older one like I do?

My dad HAD a 68 firebird. Now he has 2 68 camaros, the coupe has a 383 and the convertible still has the original 6 cylinder. He has had at least 2 first gen f bodies since i was born. At one point he had 6, a 68 firebird, 4 68 camaros, and a 69 camaro.

I have a 99 trans am with a 402.

What are your plans for the redbird?

My husband and I have a '78 (needs to be restored) and a '79 95% restored. We also have 5 late gen Firebirds. 2nd gens are my favorite. This is a link my husband (97ramsst) has about some of them :

I have had a few. They are easy to work on but Pontiac motors are getting hard to comeby. But a nice 400 or 455 looks great under the hood.

My first Trans Am was a 1971 455HO with M-22, had it from 1983 until 1998. Then i saw the 4gen WS-6 and i felt in love again.

It's really nice to see that there are some older Firebird fans here! My Dad bought this car new and drove it until about 12 years ago. Now that he's gone my son and I want to do something with it as a tribute to him. He was a Pontiac man through and through!

As for plans, we're not exactly sure what we are going to do with it yet. It has the little 301 in it now, which I would really like to replace with a little more horespower. Even if I have to go back with the 301 that will be OK, as long as it's up and running again. This will also be a good project for my son and I to work on together.

A site that you would really benefit from is Pontiacregistry.com. Good luck to you and your son.
