What do you guys do for the winter?
Winters soon to be here, do you guys keep driving or do you store your babies away? I, unfortunatly, have to keep driving mine because its the only car i have! I plan on not driving it when it snows though, and putting a cover on it, i also plan on washing it alot because i dont want that annoying road salt to eat away at the car. I wish i could afford a decent 4wd right now, but no can do.

I keep mine in the garage and take it out maybe once or twice a month. If there has been a snow storm and the roads were salted, i might take it around the neighborhood just to get it up to temperature.....

What do I plan to do? Same as always, pop the t-tops off, turn up the AM talk radio and cruise the night away.
I don't know how some of you guys live with four seasons. I was born in NY, lived in PA before I came out here, but unless I get a job that pays ridiculous money and/or marry a woman with ***** bigger than her head I will never live where it snows again. Hats off to you 4 season citzens...

As much as I envy you fawkers that live in the south, and I am a lil jelous, the OP posted this thread for people that live in areas of inclimate weather and if they store their cars in the winter or not.
He didn't ask you to tell us how great summer is all around
OP-I live in Canada, I don't drive my car from October to late April-May.

When I was young I could only afford one car so that's what I drove (my old Firebird). As I got older (and richer) I had a truck and a car. Now I have a truck, a Jeep, a Subaru, and two F-body's in the garage. Honestly, it stops there only because that's all my wife will allow.

For winter storage, I fill the tank, give it a wash, park it on my lift, connect a trickle charger to the battery, put a cover over it, and lift it up out of the way. Then I do the same to my Cutlass and park it underneath. I'll start them both up ~ once a month through the winter. Then once the March rains have washed the last remanants of salt off the roads, out they come. I refuse to drive either on salted roads, and avoid rain whenever possible. Having a winter beater (or two) in the rust belt is the only way to extend the life of a nice car.

I've driven my various Formulas through 11 KS winters. Tires are what make the difference. Summer tires just don't cut it - been there done that. You need good all-seasons for general cold weather and snow tires mounted on spared rims for ice and the white stuff. I wash the car every time it warms up into the 40's and above ... here in southern KS I never have had to wait more than a couple weeks to get all the road gunk off the car.

I saw a guy driving his Firehawk today...
it was originally silver but looked brown with a silver roof and hood because of the amount of crap that had been kicked up onto it.
The gf and I both have SUV's for the winter, I want to say it's impossible to get around here with an F -body in the winter. But I remember daily driving my 76 back in the day... studded snow tires on all four corners.

Honestly, I give you middle Americans and east-coasters praise. I can't even BEGIN to imagine dealing not only with the cold, REAL cold, but most importantly the ridiculous driving conditions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxWef...eature=related
I'm a natural born New Yorker and proud of it, but I will NEVER live on the east coast or anywhere there's snow ever again...
