Default 02 ws6 tach question

02 ws6 stock when i rev it up or get on it in first the tach doesnt keep up with the motor revs. if i rev first out to rev limiter the tach only at 4 and still climing but when im cruising its pefect or rev it up slow. any ideas?

I know exactly what you're saying.

There is a delay between the actual engine revolutions, vs what the tach reads. In other words, the tach cannot keep up with the crank speed.

Its normal. You can either get a cluster that has been calibrated for it or just buy a shift light.

why werent they calibrated right from the factory? my car is stock and it still cant keep up

It's not a matter of "calibration", at a steady RPM, it'll read correctly. Its when the engine is ACCELERATING RAPIDLY that the tach can't keep up because it is slow in response to a quick RPM increase. It's not calibration, its reaction delay. All factory tachs do that, you need a quick acting aftermarket tach to eliminate that effect, or use a shift light. It's only a problem in 1st gear or when revving in neutral.

is this an aftermarket tach??? its not wired right! or its broken.

Mine does it too, and I bought my car bone stock with 16K miles. If you drive a Vette, you can tell a big big difference.
