Default Are trans ams popular in the us?

Here in vancouver canada you see corvette's on a daily basis but rarely ever see a trans am. Are they seen often down south?

Welcome to LS1tech! SEARCH will be your best friend around here.

I'd say yes, the Trans Am is a popular car here in the states.

I'm in North Houston TX and I see a Trans Am almost every day, but only about 1 a day! LOL

They just didn't make very many Trans Ams and the gen IV ended in 2002, which means many have a lot of miles, we see them parted out daily, then guys keep their prized Trans Ams in the garage while driving newer platforms daily. They seem to be disappearing tho, I went to a builder's open house and dyno day and I was the only Trans Am - I couldn't believe it. I also think a new generation of younger buyers that buy them up typically get in more wrecks or totals. Just demographics.

Hey man I take offense to that! Kidding... I know I bought my T/A in San Antonio and started giving it the TLC it deserves. Granted, I'm 20, married, with a kid. I guess I go against demographics.

Anyhow, OP, where I'm stationed, there's about 3 or 4 98-02 T/A's (including mine) and a couple LT1 T/A's. Hop on the Atlanta craigslist and there are always T/A's for sale.. ALWAYS; but mostly used and abused unfortunately.

that is great! I wrecked all my cars when younger, glad I grew out of that phase. It is sad to see these cars parted out more and more, but hey that just makes our cars more unique!

I hardly ever see Formula's or Trans Ams up here in NH. This goes for every generation, not just the gen IV's. There are plenty of Camaro's and 6 cylinders, but most of those are driven year round and are rusted out junk.

If I had a choice I'd own a t/a from each generation! A good running trans am in good shape is hard to come by in any year

It seems to depend on the lay of the land. Up north and especially the pacific northwest, the roads are twisty turny that demand more cornering performance and/or rally racing. Even though the f-bodies were originally designed for a road course, they get built for quarter mile straight line, where they are better suited anyway. Here in Orlando, every street and avenue is straight and flat, allowing for 1/4 mile fun at every stop.

And everyone is right, these cars are either ragged out beaters or pristine garage queens, with no happy medium. I'm trying to be that happy medium with my "all go no show" daily driver parked in the sun 24/7.

Nah... Would rather complete, easier.. I hate selling **** so that would be hell.

If it doesn't and I get a good cash offer on the longblock, I might consider it. Motor would have to sell before anything though.

I'd say they're popular, a lot of people around here are REALLY impressed by the pop up headlights. KInda unfortunate that more aren't around most I've ever seen in a day was 5 but then I went 2 and 1/2 weeks without seeing another (Besides mine of course).
