Default Help with exhaust????

Just bought a 99 trans am with the ls1 motor. Looking for an exhaust system. I would like a nice deep tone but not overly loud. Would like to hear some opinions Thanks!

I have a magnaflow catback that just needs something to close the cutout. I ran it for awhile with the cutout just open and liked the tone myself

I like my Loudmouth 1, but it is not for everyone. Check out this site....

http://www.ls1sounds.com/

Here is a link to a video of my 98, it will be the second white 4th Gen at the 29sec mark. My wife, who actually claims the car was driving, and I was behind her in the white 2nd gen Formy with the snappy horn (which reminds me that I have to get a deeper sounding horn for it LOL!!).

borla, corsa, magnaflow, The SLP is loud and blatty and the flowmaster well just blatty. It all depends on what your mod goals are. I have borla adjustable on mine and it sounds good on stock engine. I'm building the motor in my sig so don't know how it's going to sound once motor and LTs and ORY are completed.

Flomaster 80 series (the one made specifically for our cars) is total ****. It will sound like a dump truck with LT's and ORY, and actually rob you of power.
Check youtube for sound clips of different setups. There are a ton of different catbacks.
Hooker, Corsa, Borla, Magnaflow, GMMG, loudmouth 1 and 2, and so on.
Make SURE to pay attention to the FULL setup, having longtube headers, and/or an off road Y-pipe will make a HUGE difference in tone, loudness, rasp and overall sound. Then there is an additional huge difference when engine mods like a bigger cam is added.

I know its an LT1, but I personally loved it. It's a great setup for the price.

My Corsa is way better though. It is quiet when cruising, then LOUD when i'm on it. All along with manageable volume inside with no drone

Exhaust will sound completely different from Lt1 to LS1. But the TSP rumbler does sound good.

Just remember if they are loudish with stock everything but the catback they will usually sound like *** once you lay full mod regime on the car. Cam, Lt's, ORY etc etc. I care not think how much money I've spent changing exhaust on previous f-bodies over and over and over again until I found a combination of various vendors parts that produced what I was after as a end goal

I love a stock LT1 z28 burble pure sex. Ls1 needs pipes to know it even has a motor in it. IMHO
