I'm guessing you used a generic vin decoder found somewhere on the net, right? That might explain the vague answers you were given.
They're all Firebirds. Formula and Trans Am were model variations of the Firebird. The Firehawk falls into the same category.
There were a few WS6 Ram Air Formulas produced. I have no idea exactly how many though....
Yes, 5.7L is correct. They didn't produce a V6 Ram Air car from the factory. Unless you count that blown one-off SEMA 'bird that was built in '01 or '02.

The WS6 is an option package not a type of car. Just like Z28 is an option for the Camaro.
Trans Am was originally an option for the Firebird later being changed to a distinct package.
5.7 MFI =5.7 liter multiport fuel injection. Your engine: 346CID LS1 engine V-8

My T/A's dealer invoice shows "Firebird Formula / Trans Am" as well.
I don't know if this is true or not, but when the dealer showed me the invoice I balked, "No, I don't want the Formula, I want the Trans Am." He said, "All the V8's start off as Formulas, then the packages and bodystyles are described as options on the Formula."
