Unhappy 93-97,98-02. Compatible body parts

Ok so put my trans am in the ditch yesterday and I'm in need of body parts. I couldn't think of how ask google so what body parts are compatible between the two eras. I need a front bumper and quarter panels.

The Firebirds have some differences with the doors from the Camaro. As far as actual body panels, the entire 4th gen rear end is exactly the same ( save for tail-lights and Trans Ams using different bumpers ) as long as you're staying with the same F-Body twin. The Camaro QP comes up to line up with the spoiler and the Firebirds does not. The Firebird also has a large curved section for the tail-light whereas the Camaro's QP kind of sits on the light.

Front ends are not the same between LT1 models and LS1 models. And since you have a Trans Am, you're going to need another matching Trans Am front bumper. The Formulas/Firebirds didn't have the same bumper as your Trans Am.

As the OP has a Firebird and this is the Firebird section, let's keep this a Firebird discussion. PLUS, the Camaro body is very different than the Firebird body.

Doors, T-Tops, quarter panels, deck lids, rear bumper, side view mirrors and all glass is interchangeable from 1993 through 2002 Firebirds.

Fenders, hoods, front bumper and front & rear lighting is different. Tail lights will interchange but they are different.

the way that thread is worded, I didn't think to look in there and my search didn't bring it up. Sorry if I posed an inconvenience in your life by causing you to waste your time in telling me that extremely helpful bit of information. But thanks anyway. And yes, sarcasm makes the world go 'round

sorry for the dickheadish comment. I deal with 40 year old men who act like children all day. please forgive me. Stress can be a real conversation killer.

On a positive note, is there a sticky somewhere that basically spoon feeds how to take my body apart? I know absolutely nothing about vehicles and need a reference. Teach is being gay and wont let me leave to take my car to the shop and I'm behind on my hours. So any information regarding that subject would be awesome.

No problem! As far as front end removal, it is pretty straight forward once you start removing bolts. With the hood off, I'd recommend starting with the bolts that run along the tops of the fenders. Once they're out, you can wiggle the fenders around to see where they're still bolted. The nose-to-fender attachments are sandwiched together with curved brackets. Removing the plastic wheel well liners will expose those brackets.

So what's the difference between a trans am bumper and a regular ol firebird bumper?

Do you have links to diagrams that list all the parts involved with the front end? I just seen today that the bracket that mounts my radiator is bent but as far as the bumper goes, I know it's not just a cover. I'll probably need all of it

can i take a regular ol 93-97 front bumper and put it on my trans am, i know they look different but as far as mounting goes, would it be any problem, i can get an entire 97 firebird parts car for $800 and its just the timing chain thats bad, so can i put the front bumper and really the whole front end assembly onto my trans am without modification?

If you have a 98 or newer, no they won't just mount on. You would need to convert the entire front end to the 93-97 style for that AND if you have an LS1, the stock air-filter setup won't fit under the hood.

Essentially, yes. You will have to remove the T/A fog lights though, the LT1 Firebird used a different style of fog light. As far as mounting, everything should line up just fine.

Would it all still mount up if its a v6 firebird. Disregard engine parts, I don't need that. But like the bracket where the radiator mounts is bent and so I was just going to replace from the v6 firebird
