I would start with the battery cables. Make sure that they aren't corroded. Then to the battery, then finally to the starter.

Well I looked everything over took the starter off and tested it. It seems that the gear would push out but wouldn't spin so it had a bad motor. Ordered a new one and will be here tomorrow morning!

Unless its an all out drag car, I wouldn't bother.

you may not use it often but in Georgia there can be a few days when you need it, Like my sisters wedding a year and half ago when it was 106 and they had an outdoor wedding.

As it is I have to track down the leak on my AC system just so I can have it on those few days I need it, plus it's good for defogging the windshield.

Don't remove the a/c. There will be a day when you need to sell and there is no need to 'turn off' any potential buyers because the car has no a/c. You should use it once in awhile every summer to just let it run and keep it operational.

Well every time I turn the A/C on it takes my volts meter way down and I also usually drive with the headlights on to keep the cars volt meter above 13. Any suggestions it has a new battery and alternator. What type of shops could diagnose my electrical issue?

I know this video is mainly about the Alternator, but watch this anyway. It should help pinpoint your problem.

.

You may need a higher amp capacity alternator. You can test it by running the AC and then connecting jumper cables to it and see if the lights brighten up. If they brighten up, you could try upgrading battery(AGN) or alternator(More amps).

The common suggestion when getting a new alternator, is to get an alternator for a 5.3L truck ( like 2005-2007 IIRC ) instead of the junky LS1 alternator.

I may be doing this myself come spring time.

Will the alternator bolt up or what? And where could I look for a good high output alternator and I'm thinking of getting a yellow top optima battery as well.

the alternative alternator for the LS1 is the ad244 (4 pin, although it only uses 1 on the plug). there are 2 generations of the ad244 alt and the later uses a differently shaped plug for the exciter wire and can be found on MANY chevy trucks, escalades and the like, if you do a search on here I know there is a list of years and models that it can come from.

So I was watching my volts meter today and without the headlights in the meter will read over 13 volts for a little bit until the engine is at operating temperature for a while. The needle will then slowly but surely fall below 13 and will go up to 13 and back down. It seems to very with rpm range. When I use accessories such as blinkers and windshield wipers I can see the volt meter jump up and down. How could I diagnose this issue? I also here a slight electronic buzzing under the hood when listening very closely. I have unhooked my power wire to my amp for my sound system since it seems like my battery drains more than it should. I have a switch to turn the amp on and off but I can't tell if it's the amp draining the battery or something else.

Really sounds like your Alternator is going out.

Join the club! I have to get mine replaced this week. I'm going to get a AD244 unless I absolutely need to replace wiring for it to work well enough.

If you have to as well, pre 2005 is the year you want. After 04 I believe, GM switched it over to a 2pin so it won't work on our cars. Look for a 145amp from a 03 Escalade 5.3L

So if I go out and try to get the AD244 I shouldn't have to redo any wiring if it's before 2005

I'm not 100% positive but the main connector will work fine. Just make sure you get a 4 pin as seen here http://www.amscovf.com/thumbnail.asp...axx=300&maxy=0

and make sure it has the same bracket style as well ( aka the front looks like this http://cf.mp-cdn.net/c7/e5/0c589c65b...afb25c9002.jpg )
