Here's a good question. How much do you weigh? Sometimes the biggest way to improve a vehicles weight is for the driver to drop some pounds. I'm not all that concerned with street/drag racing and really don't care what my car weighs, but I dropped from 240 to 155, so that right there would have been a bigger weight savings than any mod you can do to the car. Just something to think about.

It currently has Richmond 4.10 Race Cut Gears in it. The car has 53,825 on the clock. I'd love to just sell the rear end outright, however I love driving her and my pocket book is really, really thin. I'm going to save a whole year for the right 9", but security is totally worth it.

My rear shocks are shot. Looking at replacing them. I'm considering these Competition Engineering Rear Adjustable Drag Shocks Any thoughts?

OP- you should study up on the "F.A.S.T" (Factory Appearing Stock Tire) racing. these folks go to great lengths to make their cars appear stock yet are much lighter by making facsimiles of many parts. You may get some tips and tricks from reading up on their cars (if they even share their secrets)
As mentioned- drill holes where hidden, or remove sections of sheet metal completely. Add flanges wherever possible to help retain strength.
Glass is heavy- would you consider lexan for the hatch? Heater & AC removal? Radio and speakers, too. T/A's have a lot of them. I'd reconsider that exhaust, too. If you can get over the looks- use a '98 exhaust with the single outlet. It's OEM, flows well and has one less muffler with less tubing. Weight saved already.

It's been a long time since I posted, however when the wife says "we're pregnant" that usually means $$$. I finally got cought up to doing things with the Bird and ordered a Midwest Chassis Front Bumper Support today. They have a great customer service and support the Military! Can't go wrong with that!
I'm still on the fence about ordering the SJM ABS Delete kit this month. Maybe next month or so.
More posts to come with weight savings!

Did you weigh your car before you started removing stuff? If so what did it weigh? Mine weighs 3540 lbs with a full tank of gas. Also would like to know what it weighs when you are done.
