Talking Best choice.... Supercharge or swap??

I have a 01 ws6 with 152k mile, so what's better???

Supercharge this older motor?

Or

Ls2 swap?

Which is best on low budget, it's also my daily driver, any and all advice welcomed

Thanks all!!!

I'm no expert, but I'd think twice about Supercharging a motor with that many miles on it.

I was thinking about that myself, i would have to rebuild EVERYTHING wouldn't i?

I think it would be better to swap for now, supercharge later unless i can find a swap with a supercharger lol

You might not have to rebuild it, but I think it would cross my mind that I didn't rebuild it, every time I put the spurs to it...

Since it's your daily I'd say get another car first. Your drivetrain might not like the extra power from either option.

I am in your boat to be honest, only my car isn't my DD and has 107xxx on it. I want to boost it, but I'm pretty sure the tired out LS will give me issues. So I think I'm going to pull mine and have it rebuilt. I have yet to make up my decision about heads and a cam, but might cross that bridge when the time comes next winter.

So I would have it rebuilt the right way. Then think about more boost when you save up some more cash.

A motor can let go at 2 miles or 200k miles, it all comes down to mechanical failure. With a good running engine, with good compression numbers, well cared for, no oil consumption issues, etc I wouldn't bat an eye at forced induction whether it be brand new or a seasoned motor.

With that said, I am running 8lbs of boost on a junkyard 5.3 that when installed had 150k on it. Now I am at around 158k on the motor with no issues stated above, and making 430whp.

I say let her rip with boost and have fun.

+1
Even a new motor built for forced induction could let go at 10 miles... Nothings for certain.

If your replacing heads and have everything apart you should just add forged pistons and rebuild at the same time. Save money in the end.

Neither is cheap when to do correctly. I would not boost a LS1 with 152k miles without rebuilding it. I wouldnt supercharge my LS2 with 4k miles on it without new piston rings. Build a motor for boost, swap it and when the time comes, you can supercharge it with no worries.
If I could go back in time, that is what I would do.
