Default searching for a 4l60e

i just bought a 97 firebird formula w/ a 4l60e and 3/4 is out and there is water in the trans from the rad leaking into the trans cooler. so with water being in there for god knows how long i assume there is rust. i was going to buy a monster transmission but i stumbled across alot of horror stories and im on a tight budget and i cannot afford to lose my *** on a crap trans. im looking for a mild rebuild that can handle a heavy foot and a 150 shot later down the road. so can anyone point me in the direction of a trans that wont beak my bank but not leave me stranded after a couple hundred miles?

I have personally owned an FLT (Finish Line Trans) 4L60E, it was a fantastic transmission and I would certainly recommend them. Only reason I don't still have it is because I sold the whole car.

I would recommend getting a transmission that has room for you to grow hp wise. I destroyed a level 4 because I was throwing to much at it. Now I run a level 6.

Im on a real tight budget right now so i was looking at the lower levels. It will be atleast a year until im running nitrous. Does the flt come with a tourque converter. If not im leaning twords a circle d hp 3000 stall

FLT's transmissions do not come with a torque converter. So you can choose whoever you like. I would recommend sending FLT your TC and having it broken in with the transmission.
