WS9 is the rpo code for the formula. Every TA has this code.

Y82 is the Trans Am code

OK I have Y82, so does that mean Y82 + WS9 = regular Trans Am?

So are they complete bodied formula's? Seems like a big waste of time to have to take off body panels after they were already put on. Why not just leave the front and rear bumpers off and leave the formy spoiler off, and just add all the t/a stuff at one time later in the assembly. Seems like a big waste of time and extra parts if you have to take them all off. You'd be having a lot of excess formula parts just sitting around as well.

I don't think they did that, GM had to have SOME sense of efficiency when they built these cars. I now think the WS9 was to designate the cars that were going to have LS1 and Formula suspension... just a guess, and then Y82 decided if it got the T/A GFX and bumpers and such. I wonder if the WS6 cars have WS9 on their RPO code sheet...

thats what i meant. not that they make a complete formy, then take it apart. the car is first designated as a formula, before any parts are put on it. then its further designated as a ta, or a ws6 TA/formula, or a formula/TA firehawk and so forth. then they put the gfx on, and add interior stuff...
