Skip effin' shift! Have any of you gotten rid of that incredibly annoying "skip-shift" feature? (and if so, how and how much?) I hated it on my 95 Z, and I hate it on my 2000 WS6. I never understood it, and there isn't a day that it doesn't annoy me at least once! By the way, how do you upload a pic on here? Thanks.

Most of the vendors on this site sell a skip shift elminator kit, they run around 20-30 bucks. To me its not really that bad, I have one but I havent got around to installing it, I just drive around it.

It's easy....if you can change your air filter, you can do this. You just pop off a slip connector and slide the resistor into the transmission end of it. Tape it up, and you're done.

Its just telling you that the skip shift system is activated, and isnt going to allow you to go into any other gear than 4th from 1st. Once the light goes away (I think its in between 2000-2500PRMs) you can go to any gear you want.
Skip shift is just a cheap way for GM to get around not having their customers pay the gas guzzler tax. When the EPA test drive any cars with skip shift, it makes them go from 1st to 4th, upping the ratting for city milage.

So how exactly does the skip-shift feature work? If you are just cruising around town and your car automatically shifts into 4th gear from 1st...I mean wouldn't that cause it to lag because you would be in 4th gear but going slow enough to be in 2nd gear?
