My question is... did you get the articulating seats in yours or not? What to look for is on the RPO sticker... it would be AR9 (which would be a no), or AQ9 (which would be a yes).
One of the 6 purple 6-speed WS6 cars is located in Central Indiana. The owner's name is Butch Leisure. His vanity plate even says "1 of 6".

I've been driving one around for the last 3 years, and have gotten nothing but compliments. When I take the WS6 out, people go nuts over it. I've seen people walk up and take pictures with them standing next to my car. It attracts a lot of attention, and not once has it ever been negative. Everyone is always telling me how much they love the color, and nobody believes me that it's a factory paint job.

A guy who used to be a friend of mine was stupid and traded his 98 BPM A4 TA with about 106,xxx miles on it for a Subaru RS. I forget the year of it and all, maybe 98-00 or so. It had about 10,000 or so less miles though. Straight up trade no cash. The TA did have paint peeling by the gas cap, but nothing that was very major. It was in perfect working condition. He just got sick of it. I'm sure he regrets it to this day.

RPO code is AQ9, so yes.

Wondering if you could enlighten me on why the 98's had single on the left exhaust. Mine still has it, would it be best to keep it, or go dual exhaust out the back ?

That's just what ASC & SLP used for that year... I dunno if there was any real reason. If you're looking to keep the car original / correct, I would leave the single exhaust on it. Mine has been taken off, and it has a SLP loudmouth on it, but I'm planning on putting it back to the stock one.

I wonder if mine might be the only car with standard seats instead of the AQ9s.

I don't know why they didn't make the AQ9 seats standard on the trans ams until 2002? That should have been a standard option just like almost everything else on the t/a's.

the guy that started this thread was obviously lying, they made several hundred or thousand purple T/A's, But, like him, you are lying or just plain jealous. When I tell people I have a 98 ram air they get excited and the first question, " What color?" Now when I say Purple, I dont get laughs but I do get that inquisitive smirk, like realluy? Why? But when they see it or when I drive around people are always gawking. When I get gas ppeople surround my car. I met some guys that race at Brooklyn and they are impressed with the color, So I doubt what you say

88U, Bright Purple Metallic was available only in '97 and '98 on the Firebird. In '97 only 214 BPM 'Birds were built (34 T/A coupes, 3 T/A 'verts, 13 Formula coupes, 3 Formula 'verts, 155 Firebird coupes, 6 Firebird 'verts), and in '98 only 466 BPM 'Birds were built (84 T/A coupes [10 of these were WS6s], 42 T/A 'verts [2 of these were WS6s], 27 Formula coupes, 293 Firebird coupes and 20 Firebird 'verts). BPM was the rarest Firebird color in '98, and 2nd rarest in '97 (2nd only to 05U Med Dark Purple Metallic).

I'm not sure why you think the OP is lying about an ebay posting existing 17 years ago. Seems like a pretty bold claim for your FIRST POST. BTW, do you have your ASC# for your BPM WS6? If not I can look it up for you if you IM your VIN to me.
