Default 3rd Gen Formula Ram Air - WS6 or WS7?

Unlike the 4th gen 'birds, the 3rd Gen Formulas were ALL fitted with the WS6 performance suspension & exhaust package right at the factory. However, they did not have factory Ram-Air, nor did they ever carry the WS6 badge on them the way our 4th gen brothers did.

I've added a functional Ram-Air hood to my Formy, and I'm thinking I want to add a nice badge to it. However, should I put on the WS6 badge? (Which would be legit), or do you think I should put on the WS7 badge that the 4th gen guys who are just adding Ram-air hoods to their non-WS6 cars are using?

Or, should I get a custom badge for like a WS8 or something?

i wanna know what my fellow Pontiac owners think.

There actually was an RPO WS7 handling/performance package available on the third-gens, so since what you have is the WS6 package, using the WS6 badge would be more accurate. WS8 was also an actual RPO on the third-gens, for order confirmation stuff.

Cool, and thanks. I didn't know that.

I think I'm going to just stick with the WS6, like you suggested. I've got the WS6 3rd gen package, with aftermarket suspension upgrades, and a hood similar to 4th gen WS6's, so it's all good.

I'd run the WS6 badge.

This is a little off topic, but I prefer the 96/97 ram air hood to the 98-02 on the third gens. The scoops are just way too big to flow with the lines of the third gen.

I'm of the opposite mind...... the 98-02 scoops are part of what MAKES the 4th gen lines look so bad-***, in my opinion.

88+ Formula's had WS6 script on the center caps of the stock 16" wheels.

Just look at your original caps

I've had both hoods on my 88 Formula and I prefer the 97 and earlier style.

and a pic of the stock center cap

WS6 is what it is, so go with that.

I would go with the WS6 badge also. It would be correct, since that's what the car has as an option.

I know that they had WS6 on the stock center caps. That doesn't help me, however, since I no longer have those wheels. I now have 4th gen wheels, along with all the other upgrades I've done.

LT1 is an easier, less expensive swap. LS1 is a much better platform for the future. It really all depends on what you want to do with it, and what your budget is.

My 89 Formula is nearly done, put a 402 LS2 stroker in it.
Next year I put the LS1 engine/trans I also have into the 91 Camaro RS.

They do make 4th gen lines look good, but 3rd gens are a different story.

The bigger scoops on a 3rd gen need to be offset by the 4th gen style spoiler to make it balance out. If you keep the stock wrap-around spoiler, than it doesn't look as good, I'll give you that.

To each his own.

Back on topic now: I'm definitely going to stick with the WS6 badge. Regardless of hoods and spoilers, it IS a factory WS6. With the hood, it just makes it look that much more like a 4th gen is all.

Thanks man. I think the bigger scoop hoods look awesome on these cars. That's a nice formula you have also.
