Default Traction control

How big of a difference does TCS make in adverse conditions?

I'm seriously looking at 2 T/A's. One seems like a GREAT deal, but doesn't have TCS. Price is pretty much non-negotiable. Car is pretty much stock.

The other is a little overpriced IMHO (but negotiable!). It has TCS. 10k less miles, and many many mods (cam, exhaust, ect).

Will TCS, or the lack thereof, play a huge difference in rain, snow, or icy conditions?

I dunno about how it reacts in certain conditions but all it does it get in the way when racing or doing burnouts.

I liked it for Winter when I was still daily driving my 'bird. I felt that it gave me more control and helped to get the car moving better.

It always gets in my way. One of the first things I do when I start the beast up is turn TC off.

Well if it is a daily driver and you have little experience with RWD then I highly recommend it. If you are experienced with RWD vehicles it will probably only **** you off, but I will say it is definetely a nice feature to have for a DD and has saved my butt a few times in the rain.

BTW I feel like its pretty worthless in the snow but thats just me

Yeah, whatever car I drive is going to be a daily driver. Might pick up something cheap to drive in the snow, but until then, definately a DD.

Seems like the TCS is something that I need 'eh?

If you live around snow- get it!

I personally HATE mine though. I can't wait to remove the entire assembly from my car. I don't live around snow and with the power I have it seems to dead pedal the car at anything approaching 3/4 throttle in the first 3 gears. I ******' hate it.

It is nice to have if you press too hard on the gas on rainy days when you dont expect it. When you on dry pavement and you want to press too hard you normally forget to turn it off. Then it is a PITA. Or at the track. If that is the only difference go with the one in better condition.

I found it more annoying than anything, and never had it kick in at a moment that I actually NEEDED it. I'm glad neither of my cars have it now.

The only time that I ever thought about permanently disabling it was the first time I went to the track and forgot to turn it off, I proceeded to attempt a burnout with the TCS on and embarassed the hell out of myself

I would definitely recommend it! Slp sells a piece that reverses the operation so it only activates when you want to turn it on. I barely use down here in vegas but even when its dry out here sometimes you just give it a little too much gas and don't realize it, especially when turning, and thats when it kicks in. It has saved my butt as well as my girlfriends. I have just made it a habit to turn it off when I turn the car on. As far as the racetrack..... thats when the slp mod comes in handy, otherwise you'll just have to try to remember to turn it off and if you don't there's always the next run...............I (heart) the trac control!

Get the TCS--it helps in bad conditions and it's not that hard to turn off if you want to.

Something I forgot to ask: How feasable is it to get TCS put in aftermarket? Or is this not even an option due to inability to do it, or WAY too costly?

I found my car harder to drive in the snow with the TCS on. Especially going up hills... I would start to get a little spin because it was slick, and then the TCS would kick in and kill my forward momentum. Only way I could get up the hill was to turn it off.

Like I said, I found it more annoying and cumbersome than I found it a help. Never had it kick in on my when I actually needed it. It's easier just to learn how to finesse the car...

It sounds like the car with the TCS is a better buy anyway with less miles, a few mods......etc.......I wouldn't mind paying a little more if its worth it.
