What to do with a 1000 dollars?
Hi guy and girls. this is actually my first post on here. anyways i just purchased a 2000 ws6 m6 with 26 k miles on it. But thats not the question. my question is i have around 1000 dollars to put into it and id like to get some ideas for you all on what to do to it with this money i the only things on the car now is a flowmaster 3" exaust and a K&N filter. SO what would ( in your opinions ) be the best HP for my money?

you have to decide what your gonna do to your car in the future, as to what you can do know. You can do the above 3 posts or get a head and cam package, There's alot of stuff you can do for around 1000 bones.

One thing to get is a Pro 5.0, that stock shifter has got to go if its not a hurst option. I went from the stock to a Pro 5.0 and will never look back. Get an intake lid if you don't have one already. LT's, but definetly stay away from SLP's for the money get yourself some Kooks. But since you only have 1000, this is what i think. Any intake lid, Hooker LTs, y-pipe, pro 5.0. Also see if you can find yourself a used LS6 intake manifold, and depending the money you have left. I say get some Nitto street radials, which will hook very good at the track from what i have read. Again, Welcome.

Lid = ~$80-100
LT's = ~$600-800
Y = ~$100-150
5.0 = ~$100-170
Now these are only estimates, your price could vary depending on where you find these things. Best bet is to watch the 'Parts For Sale' listings which change hourly around here!
And Welcome a'board', ...

I would get a lid, a cut-out to outflow that flowmaster, longtubes, off road y pipe, and a simple tune because the headers may make u run a little rich.

well thanks guy for all the information and suggestions, my first thoughts were to get a lid, mass air flow sensor, and headers that would prolly take all grand. and would be a nice start .

Well I also read a post earlier that said flowmaster mufflers actually caused you to lose horsepower over stock mufflers on a ws6, what your thoughts on that and if this is true why and also what would you people recommend as a good exaust with good hp gain and good sound.

Don't waste your money on a mass air flow sensor. Some guys actually lose power adding them, and the slight benefit you could get from it isn't worth the risk. The stock MAF flows fine for a lightly modded engine. Same goes for the LS6 intake. If you're keeping the stock cam and heads, you don't really need the LS6 intake. The LS1 intake will flow fine.
Headers on the other hand are great to have. Truth be told, the Flowmaster exhaust will be the weak link in your exhaust setup. If you had headers, you could gain more HP from switching to a different catback. Magnaflow is a good one that can be had for about $400.
An air lid is one of the best mods for these cars when it comes to bang for the buck, and the first thing anyone should do to their car.
One thing that I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned is subframe connectors. These are an absolute necessity for these cars, especially if you have t-tops or a convertible. The chassis will be stiffened up nicely, which helps the suspension do its work better. You won't have as much body flex under hard acceleration, and they help in weight transfer to put the power to the rear wheels. Also, they reduce or eliminate many interior rattles and squeaks, as well as t-top leaks. Get yourself a good set of weld-in SFCs. They don't add horsepower, but they make the car much better.

it all depends on wether you are going to do the labor yourself. if you get a cam and upgrade your valve train, that will set you back the entire amount if you install it yourself. most after-market cams require that you have supporting mods, such as headers/gears, but don't forget that if you do decide to "de-vergin-ize" the motor, you will need 4-5 hundred bucks for a dyno tune.
that being said, headers/exhaust and a good tune. 1g well spent for powa!

Bolt-ons make the driving experience so much more fun. I don't see how anyone can drive a modern-day muscle car with all the emissions crap and feel like they have power sitting under them.
I love starting my car in the morning and having it lunge forward a few inches.
It's great when you have a drink sitting in the cup-holder and you can see the liquid ripple like there was an earthquake.
And you know your car feels fast when the engine makes the mirrors shake harder than the stereo system.
I'd do the LT's, lid and a better cat-back first, then go from there.
