I believe the 01/02 engines were built with looser tolerances in the bottom end for more hp but less engine life.

Gotta vote for the 1998.......1) Because I own one and 2) Because this was the model that kicked off the style for all the 99-02's. 98 was the first year they started with the new body style...

Of my 4 fourth gens, 2 were LS1's ('00 & '02) and I prefer my '02. When the time came to sell one, I sold the '00 since I liked my '02 better and it was the last year made. And since I had both of them for 2 years together, I had plenty of time to make that choice.

They used tighter tolerances for 01/02. I don't use any oil between 5000 mile oil changes, and I have 122,000 miles on my bird.

2000,.......Cuz 98,99 and 00 have a slightly larger cam than 01 and 02. 01 and 02 just have an LS6 intake that compensates for the then smaller cam. Everyone always forgets about that!

I have a 2000 but have to go with the 1977-1978 year because there is something about those eagle eye front facia that is as intimidating as seeing a WS6 coming up your rear view mirror fast. Please at least in that year you dont have to worry about emissions testing now. BTW anybody have a 1977 1978 for sale please message me thanks.

Everyone knows that the 2000 is the best year! My friends dad knows a guy who has a brother that used to work at a repair shop, and he said the 2000's had the most power!
