Guys with regular TA's run into this a lot?

Like the smooth look
Only been asked once and told the guy that the car cost $33,000+ NEW and I didn't need another 15 HP for thousands more. 310 HP is enough for me. Also with only 396 '01 T/A convertibles built I like the rarer smooth look Trans Am. Yeah, I know there were only 400 more (796) WS6 convertibles built in '01 but it is just a preference anyway. On a side note, whenever I go to car shows I always see signs on old classics stating, "Only 1 of 1500", or "1 of 4,000". Man, do we have collector cars or what!! Just 10 years down the road from now how many survivors will there be??

not really, but most will always follow up with 'oh you have a ws6?" and i'm just "no just a trans am" and i feel tho they are unimpressed, i think maybe in their head they think that means much less?
Most non f-body people have no idea that the stock numbers on trans am vs. ws6 are very close.
then again most uneducated people call my car a firebird instead of a trans am to describe it... and that kinda bothers me.. but then again, thats pretty much the same argument. i mean technically i guess i do have 'ram air'.

I have a 96 Formula and couple times people have ask me, what year Camaro is that. This is the best one, I will tell them I own a Formula and they either say is that a V6 or, what is a Formula.

My favorite quote of all time.....this just happened to me at the T/A Nationals. This fella comes over and says "hey can I look at your hood?" It was open, so I said "sure". He almost had his face pressed against the underside of it. Then he peaked around to the top, and then immediately walked away. As he was walking away, he said to another guy very loudly "that's the wrong hood". Then I saw him down the row of cars closely inspecting the underside of a ram air hood.
Wrong hood? I think not

I hope more people swap 'em out for ram air hoods (ok, not really). As I've said many times before in my Sleek Beak thread, everyone who changes their hood makes mine just that more unique

I've gotten the is it a WS6 or is it a Ram Air comment a couple times from people i know. People i think should know the difference and i always tell them it isn't. I even had one person tell me they really liked it and said they new the LS1 was the better engine compaired to the LT1 and then ask if it was a Ram Air.... when I told him it wasn't they just looked at me like i made a huge mistake in buying it. He then informed me that i should buy the hood to make it look like one. Like my car is a serial killer trying to hide in a police convention or something. It was annoying but i got over it and i know what my car can do so if they think it's slow then its their loss i know i'm fast.

i used to take my Z into a local spot for oil changes, never got the slightest bit of interest from any of the greese monkeys in there... but the first time i rolled in with my WS6 every wrench turner in the place was over there giving my car the four star treatment... they ALL wanted to help. when they finished, they would normally just pull my Z right out of the bay into the lot for me to retrieve, but with the TA, the guy pulls it all the way around the building to the main entrance and even holds the door open for me as i get it?!? bahahahaha. needless to say i felt like a rockstar. amazing how much more respect the car commands, but hey... i'm not complaining!

I know all of you are talking about the hood but who gets the "is it a standard" and when you say no its auto they look at your like you are a pu$$y or something. I can't stand it when people think your car is slow cause its an auto. or cause you dont' have cool stickers that add 5hp for every sticker JK

I used to get that all the time with my base hood, I would always think "can't you tell it's not?" and when I would say no I got the typical responce about how it was nothing special, or that I should have gotten a ws6. Now that the car lopes like a pro-stock car I don't get asked that anymore.

LOL i hope that guy is kidding too... anyhow, sad to say this but i kno a vette c5 owner (who obviously knows nothing about his car) who asked me, "hey you got a ws6 right?" I was like, "no just a formula". He was like, "ah thats too bad... the ws6's can almost keep up with me but you arent even competition." This was before i knew ANYTHING about my car, like a week after i got it. I was like "oh.. man that sucks." Now i cant wait to embarass him with my boltons . It is a shame to know that a vette owner doesnt know anything about ls1's. oh, and off topic, his brother has a 95 m3 with a few boltons and like 3:55 gearing who tells people that my car is nothing compared to his... LOL. Cant wait to embarass him either especially with truduals and a tune by the end of the month.

Egh,. some people are just dumb like that. I'm constantly asked that question ironically enought too even though I obviously have one.
I hate it when people ask the question. Last week this guy pulls up to me in a 00 Z.28 at blockbuster before I hop back in my car and asks me like a dick cuz his girl is in the car with him if it was a WS.6. I didn't even look at him when I asked him "Is yours an SS?". He looked at me like I was an idiot. And for good reason too. Cuz its a dumb question. He then said "lol,..You cant tell the difference between a Z.28 and an SS?!!" I replied with "Yes I can. But you obviously can't tell the difference between a Trans Am and a WS.6 Trans Am and you actually drive an F-body!" He got pissed and drove off say'n "**** you!"
I just think its especially bad when someone who drives an F-Body asks!
