Default Best ramps for a trans am?

I went to Napa today and got some sturdy looking metal ramps but I noticed that they only had a 2000 lb weight capacity and the Trans Am is somewhere around 3400 isn't it? I'm afraid to buy those plastic ramps that I've seen sold elsewhere since they look like they'd crack in a heartbeat, so I was wondering what kind everybody else uses.

EDIT: Wait I'm an idiot aren't I? That's like 2000 lb per ramp so... heh. I was wondering why metal would be so flimsy.

I've had a set of Rhino ramps for 5 years, never had a single problem with them... and yeah, it's per ramp. 2000 lbs is plenty for an F-body.

As above - Rhino Ramps - 4 1/2 years. Just used them today and there's no way I can get the car on ramps that are any steeper since it sits lower to the ground.

Yup, I got the Rhino Ramps as well. They hold up the car's weight just fine. Oh and they are not steep like most ramps, they are made for cars that sit lower than average.

I've never had a set of ramps myself. I've always used jack stands.

Rhino Ramps FTW!!!!! Easier to use then jack stands and safer as well......since your car can't roll off them if you are properly seated on them (and on a flat surface obviously). A set of four works great if you need to slide under you car safely and keep the suspension loaded (bolting in SFC's for example) or just a simple oil change.

FWIW, I also have 4 jack stands when I need that higher lift but the ramps are WAY easier to use since you just drive onto them and don't have to jack your car up in 2-4 different places (1 per stand).

I use 2x4s to drive up on 4x4s so I can get my jack under the car. Then I can use jackstands.

well i guess i am with every one else. I love my ramps so easy for those quick little jobs just drive up do what you have to and back off. And when i did the clutch in my car i drove the front on to the ramps then just jack stands to lift it a little higher. that way the car falls it just falls on to the ramps. just never did trust the stands when i am trying to stab the trans back in

Bringin this thread back cause I just picked up some gray rhino ramps do these work well also with lowered cars? I had always used a jack and jack stands but I just got this car and its a pain to get a jack under. So with the ramps i figured I can drive on them and then if I need to go higher use the jack from there. Will make oil changes alot easier also glad I got them.

The cars weight doesn't equal that over the front or rear tires, and each ramp can take 2000lbs, so if you have more than 4000lbs up front, something is wrong You'll be fine, but as noted, watch for nose scrape!

My car was/is lowered an inch (SLP Eibachs) but a buddy with another 2002 TA mashed the hell outta his front end using rhino ramps but that was more due to the fact that his nose scraped the ground to begin with.....was EXTREMELY low..........worse case scenario, you can jack up the car and put the ramps beneath the tires and let it down onto the ramps.

Mine had plenty of clearance at 1" lowering, so another 1/4 inch shouldn't matter........if you go 2" or more you may start to scrape/crack your front bumper/plastic nose. Not sure what springs my buddy's car had but it was loooooooow in the front & he cracked his nose piece bad by driving up those ramps........well, and just driving in general.

I use the gray Rhino ramps, my car is lowered from SLP it has the Bilstein Ultra suspension system on it and I never had a issue with these ramps...
