That's right. 2002 WS6 fat spoke wheels have black center caps, says Pontiac around the edge and had the red arrowhead in the center. No reference to WS6 on them.

So, Firechicken - what are you going to do about your problem? You have a link to a GM parts catalog and several salvage operations linked earlier in the thread. Cleveland Pick-A-Part (and I assume other F-body salvage specialists) have airboxes, airlids, etc. in stock from every model of Firebird and Camaro.
We can debate about who's "aribox" is bigger for days - but the guys at the salvage yards and dealers have the stuff in front of them, can give you the most accurate information, and can even give you what you need! (If you want to get new parts, you can talk to Jarret at Lake Chevrolet, above. He does their online operation and would be happy to get you any info you need from the GM catalog, part numbers, etc.)

True - on every WS6 up until 1998. You can check the GM parts catalog for confirmation. If you have pictures of the different boxes, part numbers, etc. regarding different airboxes on post '97 WS6's and SS's, I'd love to see them. I wouldn't want to get the wrong part if I ever had to change mine out.

Get a tape measure? Get your eyes checked. You don't need a tape measure to see the difference. We're not talking about ANY ram air car that was built before 1998. The original poster doesn't have an LT1 car.

When I took possession of my car from the dealer, I didn't see any difference between the two. The ASC promotional materials in 1999 specifically said that they only changed hoods. The GM dealers' parts catalog only shows one set of parts for the 5.7L. Surely, you must have some evidence or pictures to support you assertion that would show the GM catalog to be incomplete or incorrect. Or must we trust your deep background and wisdom of the subject?

Many people are trying to tell you there are two designs.
There are two different lower airboxes used for the 1998-2002 Formula/Trans Am cars.
The standard 'non-WS6' design has a shorter opening.
The 'WS6' design has a taller opening.
(First photo, 'non-WS6', second photo 'WS6'. See the difference in the height of the opening?!?)
Many people are trying to tell you there are two designs.

The evidence that I have are my two eyes. I have a base-model Trans Am, and have seen hundreds of WS6 'birds. I know there is a difference. Why I feel so compelled to set you straight is beyond me.

A thousand apologies!!! Not only was I incorrect, I am guilty as charged. I did spread my incorrect understanding of WS6 airbox details across another post. I have gone back and edited my reply for that instance.
Previous to signing up for this site, I have been working off of information from another, incomplete site. Both that other site and my WS6 purchase pre-date the existence of LS1tech.com and I am now working to have that elder site updated, as well.
I am not alone - with regard to the WS6 air induction system; there are lot of other uninformed people posting on this site and others. Its very difficult to get definitive information on this one topic, in particular. wssix99: I recommend arguing once, then checking to be REALLY sure you know what you are talking about before continuing. Particularly with the moderators, they almost always know what they are talking about, not always. The air box is such a basic thing that you should be listening instead of talking. Just my .02c.
