It's usually the guys with the red / black / silver / white cars that say stuff like that. I mean, you really could not say my BPM '98 WS6 wasn't a rare 4th gen F-body. Unless you happened to have a red '98 Formula 'vert, that is.

Total '97 Formulas Coupes: 2716*
w/ A4: 1743
w/ T-tops: 1785
w/ 96U ROM: 100
Note these are from CompNine's database, which may be missing a few '97 production units. Another source indicates that 2766 '97 Formula coupes were built. To take these #s w/ a grain of salt.

Ok so … I have a 95 formula . It has the TA wing . The wing is factory , it has never been off the car . As far as other things , the car has had a complete 01 int swap so the rpo codes and any badging it might have had is gone . I've been told that the TA wing wasn't an option on a formula . The car was a or had been to G2 Motorsports in Dallas at some point . And all the vin says is it a formula/trans am ( yes I know they have the same vin code ) any one know ? I was told it was a formula GT but I can't find I listed for a 95 .

Best to get a RPO listing for your car, CompNine might be able to help, or a GM dealership, based on the car's VIN. Then look for W66 to confirm that it is in fact a Formula. Then look for T43, which is the uplift T/A wing. CompNine's data base indicates that exactly zero '95 Formulas (W66) left the factory with the T43 spoiler. I'm pretty sure thats what GM will tell you too once you get your RPO listing from your VIN.

How do you know the wing was never off the car? So much else had been swapped, why not the hatch?

There is no socket marks or wrench marks on the nuts holding the deck lid on . And don't seem r to be any on the wing . Maybe they just changed the wing and not the complete deck lid . What is comp 9 ? I really would like to know what all the car came with . The vin is right for a formula . It specifies formula/Trans Am
CompNine can provide an RPO listing from your VIN: http://www.compnine.com/vid.php
Is it possible your car is a Firehawk (R6V)? In '96 & '97 (at least), SLP made the T43 spoiler available on a Hawk, which were based on Formulas. CompNine shows that 33 of the 37 '96 Firehawk coupes, and 95 out of 101 '97 Firehawk coupes (R6V) came w/ the T43 spoiler. These would also have the W66 RPO for a Formula. It may be possible that SLP started offering this spoiler on '95s but the hatch swap may have been done at SLP after the car was assembled and therefore the hatch might not be reflected in the car's RPO listing.
FYI, the only thing the VIN by itself will indicate is if the car is a V6 or V8. Depending on what "service" "decodes" the VIN, it may indicate "Formula/Trans-Am" or just "Formula", because a T/A is simply a Formula w/ an aero trim & option package installed (front/rear facias, body sill mouldings, badges, other standard equipment). What the VIN will do is tie your car to a specific list of RPO codes for the equipment installed at the factory. That RPO list can only be provided (AFAIK) by a GM dealership (VIS) or a place like CompNine.

Nice looking Formula. Not sure what R7N is, but the rest of the RPOs indicate you have a 81U Bright Red Formula w/ an A4, Grahite cloth interior and T-tops. No T43 RPO indicates that the hatch w/ the up-lift T/A spoiler was added. Nothing wrong w/ that, looks nice. Even your rims look original.

Ok, I think I came up with my car being 1 of 41 or...
I have a Black WS6 Formula M6 with traction control (why?) T-tops and cloth. What other info do you need to help me determine the number?
Thanks!
