Now I don't want to get flogged here for saying anything about hyundai. I just want to know if anyone has driven both cars and to see what the differences in performance between the two of them.

I test drove the Genesis and was relatively impressed. The name Hyundai is normally not synonimous with quality, power or looks but they nailed it. I chose the G8 because the power feels a little better even though the Genesis claimed I think 375hp and I like my Pontiacs. Anyone that gets the Genesis as a DD will be more than happy. JMHO.

I've never driven a Genesis but I would trust a GM car for long term quality before the untested Genesis. Hyundai has made some major improvements lately but I just would never be able to handle this conversation:

"hey, Dave, what's up? What did you drive to the cruise?"

"I brought the Hyundai."

I did see the test on motorweek. Pretty impressive and I've seen one up close and it is a nice looking car. I love my g8 and definetly wouldn't trade it for a genesis. I'd like to run one for fun. If it can run 13.50's like mine I'll give it a thumbs up.

I would get a Genesis if it were cheaper. For $37k Ill get the GXP please ( well for a little more ) and it doesn't have a manual. The Genesis does have an advantage though. It's company will still be around in 6 months.

For the loaded price of a genesis you can get a gxp. I've driven neither but the G8 is simply one of the hottest cars ever! And the Hyundai seems like a watered down poor mans alternative version of the lexus that most people can't afford. I would feel like if i was driving a genesis i would be screaming to people "I wanted the lexus but this is all i could afford". Plus that grill has got to go. But then what are you going to put there instead? A billet grill on a luxury car? The interior of the genesis is typical hyundai. Bland and ugly. I dont know what youre thinking with this camparison but i think hands down POntiac FTMFW

something else you have to remember is that hyundai built the genesis with an emphasis on affordable luxuary. Pontiac bult the g8 with an emphasis on performance. What would you rather drive? A rocket? Or a cloud? Its personal choice man and if you let us influence your decision then your probably not that passionate about it and you probably wont care much either way.

i wonder how the rearend or transmission would handle nitrous or superchargers in the Genesis? I wonder how much power a cam and header swap would make on the Genesis? I wonder how many of your friends would laugh at you for paying how much for the v8 version of a...Hyundai? :p
