Default G8 rwhp?

Why do you suppose the G8s are only throwing out around 290rwhp on average? I mean I know its auto and I know it has a tiny cam but hell.....the auto LS1s were making 280rwhp back in 98' stock....you would think that 20 cubic inches, way better heads and intake would make more then 10-15rwhp more no?

Just curious, we just bought an 09 G8 a few nights ago and I was studying up on em.... Seems like they wake up with a CAI and tune but, I would have thought it would do more then that stock.

Opinions?

Its in the tune and the baby DOD cam. I saw my A/F dip into the 10s in the upper rpm's on the base dyno run. Pulled that up to about 12.5-.8...BOOM! ~330/350 whp/tq with tune only.

^^ agree with above but keep in mind that these cars are usually dyno'd in 4th gear which is not a perfect 1:1 ratio as would be a Fbod. The cam is def. small in these cars though.

With a couple mods, they are realllly waking up though. Check my sig.

Yup, my a/f stock dropped down into the 10's as well. And like blackbird said, we do not have a true 1:1.

There is a huge amount of potential in these cars.

^^ sure that didn't include a set of headers? That's way out there for a intake/tune only G8GT

looks like a high dyno to begin with. could be right, take 20 hp from the baseline and the after mod dyno. 335 is what most people are seeing after intake/tune i think.

I think its so crazy how the performance of our cars has increased so much within the last 5 to 10 years!!! 30 years from now ALL our cars will be colector items flying down the strip and putting HUGE smiles on our faces as we do it!! I have alot of faith in you'll G8's too! Thats some great increases on power
