The factory shifter feels mushy just like the factory f-body shifter did. I can hit the gears fine with it, but I know shifts could be quicker with a more positive feeling shifter. I probably wouldn't have any issues with it either if my car didn't have the Pro5.0 shifter in it.

I concurrently owned a f body with a stock shifter and my g8 and there is a huge difference in shift feel. The G8 shifter isn't "mushy" at all.

Just installed the Ripshift in my GXP and what a difference. The stock shifter was nice, but the ripshift takes the worries out of missing third and is much tighter. For those of you that want to know, it has the height adjustment. For me the install was easy and straight forward. Last, but not least I found SpeedInc had the best price.

I currently own a 00 Camaro SS M6 and a 09 G8 GXP M6. The G8's shifter feels sloppy and mushy like the stock f-body did to me. Get an aftermarket shifter and you'll know what I'm talking about when I mention firm, positive feeling shifts. The G8 doesn't have it IMO.
