Default G8 GXP - 490 RWHP N/A - Video Inside

We recently installed our L92 Stage 2R MAX camshaft in a customer’s 2009 G8 GXP (6-speed manual). We’re very happy with the results. The car was baselined stock and made 351 RWHP / 360 RWTQ. When finished, it made 490 RWHP / 442 RWTQ…. A gain of 139 RWHP / 82 RWTQ! We haven’t had a chance to do any fine tuning on the street yet due to the current weather conditions, but I’m confident it will drive very good for having a camshaft this large.

Modifications were as follows:

Livernois Motorsports CNC Valve Job
Livernois Motorsports L92 Stage 2R MAX Camshaft
Livernois Motorsports LS-Series Dual Valve Spring Kit
Includes: Livernois Motorsports Dual Valve Springs, Titanium Retainers, Valve Spring Locators, Locks, & Valve Seals)
Hardened Pushrods
Livernois Motorsports Ported Factory Intake Manifold & Throttle Body
Kooks 1 7/8" Longtube Headers & X-Pipe w/ Cats
Factory Catback
Rotofab Cold Air Intake System
Powerbond U/D Pulley
ARP Head Bolts
GM MLS Head Gaskets
NGK TR6 Spark Plugs
Synthetic Oil Change w/ Filter
Professional Installation
Livernois Motorsports Dyno Tune

Very very nice Rick Great work.

do you think with an aftermarket Catback you'll gain those 10hp to get 500rwhp??

I know that when our GXP was stock we added only a Corsa system with no other mods and no tuning and picked up 10 RWHP, so it's possible.

I'm pretty confident that you would have to notch the pistons in GT for this camshaft. You'd also need a converter for a GT, and I'm not sure how drivability would be with an auto.

I guess it comes down to personal preference. I think the stage 1 cam is pretty mild and if I had a G8 GT, it would be my cam of choice. The stage 1C is even more mild, yet makes good power and has near stock sound and drivability.

Stock clutch, it didn't slip at all, then again, it only has 900 miles.

I have a video of that cam in our GXP, but I don't have any videos of a GT with that cam. I know a guy on the G8 board installed the 1C and AR 1 7/8 Headers and exhaust system in his GT and made 400 RWHP.

Here is the video of our GXP - Click Here

and the dyno graph from our GXP stock vs modded.

You can drive in 6th gear at 35-40 mph at 900 rpm's and there's no bucking or jerking, it drives likes it's 100% stock.

Mods are:

Livernois Motorsports L92 Stage 1C Camshaft
Rotofab Cold Air Intake System
Kooks/Livernois Custom 1 7/8" Shorty Headers
Corsa Exhaust & Integrated "X" Style Crossover Pipe
Tuned by Livernois Motorsports
