Default G8 Roll Bar...

After getting warnings and finally getting kicked out of our local track I talked to my buddy who promptly went into action! He gave me an unheard of deal on a full chromoly roll bar all TIG welded except for the base plates that are MIG'd. The main hoop only weighs 16lbs and the whole thing only added about 45lbs to the car! Thats exactly what I saved by switching seats! Perfect!

Mock up:

Welding action!

Some shop goodness:

Rear Braces mockup:

Test fitting carpet:

Door Bar:

Looking back:

So far exactly what I wanted. You cant see any bars from the side of the car since the main hoop hides behind the B pillar and the rear supports follow the roofline and down the c pillar.

I still have some decisions to make after I live with it a couple weeks whether I want to make the door bar a swingout and if I want to add more bars. So far it really tightened up the chassis, rear is solid! Can really tell the rear end it tied together.

Not too bad... but a big guy might be a tight fit.

FX1 Pro, pretty comfortable! For those who are "larger" they have a wide version.

Absolutely is my daily! Hence why I chose the bar design and am putting the carpet, seats, and interior back in. Also why I chose the Corbeau over a Kirkey, and why it still has A/C, stereo and sub, etc.. It's still got cats and stock mufflers.

Just going for a reliable 10 sec sedan that passes inspection, emissions, doesn't get pulled over for noise, etc..

haha thanks! I had a vette before with a bar and a bunch done to it but it was really impractical. At least this way I still have a trunk with lots of room (even with the bars), big back seat, etc.. this is much more practical for me!

Plus nobody expects a family car to walk them!

Sweet seats! What cost more, the seats or the roll bar?
