Default Which G8 Axleback?

Currently on the car I have a full Kooks system and the axle back is just too loud. I don't think sound deadening will help me. In the intermediate time I plan on reinstalling the factory GXP mufflers and getting rid of the Kooks axle back.

I wish to have an axle back on my car that would not be louder than the Hooker Aerochamber I had on my Camaro. A chambered muffler is def a requirement here.

I have Kooks LT headers and x-pipe with SLP powerflow mufflers. They sound nice and deep but are not very loud and do not drone at all. I had GXP mufflers before and they were too raspy for me. I also had Borla mufflers and they were way to loud with horrible drone.

What's wrong with the stock GXP mufflers? From what Patrick G (my tuner) told me, the stock GXP mufflers only cost a couple of rwhp. My exhaust, even with 1 7/8 ARH, through hi flow cats, a mid muffler (magnaflow 12468) , and stock GXP mufflers even passed the mother in law test.

My car is very quite, until the go pedal is stomped on, then it gets LOUD!

I have vid with sound clip if you want to hear it.

I hear it!! I am going to keep the GXP mufflers on for awhile and then take the cash from selling the Kooks and then get Whiteline sway bars.

Yea. I know Patrick quite well and I agree on his test data. The only reason would be to drop about 30 lbs and more sports car sound so it isn't on the top of my to do list.

The stock muffs are 25 lbs a piece.
The Kooks were 10.5 lbs a piece.

The stock mufflers with the Kooks system does sound good but I want a tad bit more sound. The Kooks sounded awesome but just way way too loud on the highway and going up long hills it got annoying.

I too would like a bit more sound. Let me pm this thread to Patrick G and see if he can add some input.

Ryan, although it will add weight, a Magnaflow 12468 muffler in the trans tunnel would make your Kooks mufflers sound much more refined.

You can go with a Magnaflow axelback. I had one on my GT for awhile but it was a little to quiet for my taste. But I was running manifolds and not long tubes. They were louder then stock, sounded good with no drone. Check em out. http://juicedmotorsports.com/G8EXHAUST.html

I've had Magnaflows for over a year now and I hate them! The drone at 70 mph or roughly 1800 to 2000 RPMS is just terrible. I will be switching to Solo's as soon as I get some things taken care of. My Firehawk which makes over 700 RWHP and has a custom exhaust is less irritating.

No offense, but that is bad advice for a guy running long tubes. They're not called Mangadrone exhaust for nothing. Drone city...maybe not so bad with stock manifolds and cats, but if Ryan paid good coin for one and put it on his car after your recommendation, he'd be sending you a lifetime of hatemail.

Lifetime of hatemail, that's funny. I received the same bad advice and now everyone that rides with me on the highway is like "man that shi_t sucks" It's just awful and I have stock mannies and cats.

Man, I don't know why Patrick_G chose not to mention the exhaust solution he came up with months ago. Maybe it's because you ask about an axle back. PG has long tubes and slapped on a Magnaflow 12468 mid muffler and Cherry Bomb Vortex mufflers. I've been in the car and it sounds great. It's not loud in my opinion and doesn't drone. Here's a clip of it sitting still. I know this vid has nothing to do with drone, but it's still sexy and gives you a general idea of how loud it is.
