There are guys making great power and good numbers running DOD. The new DOD lifters are vastly superior to the original ones. Although I had no issues, I had the original lifters swapped out at a dealer under warranty so I can get the new ones. Once I install my ported intake manifold and TB I will be close to 450rwhp with a DOD setup.
Just look at what rick has done on the G8 boards. I would keep my options open if I were you that is all i'm saying. Could save yourself quite a bit of money...

Yeti,
I agree you can make power with the DOD set-up but.............I don't regret getting all the crap that can go wrong out of my engine once and for all. LOL

Although some people are having good luck, the DOD lifters are not reliable and I personally would not keep DOD with any aftermarket cam. Spend it when you cam it or spend it later, you're probably going to spend the money on deleting it regardless. Don't cost yourself an aftermarket cam too by waiting until it fails.
It's a neat technology and I'd love the chance to run it in a modified engine reliably to see what we can really start doing with it, but IMO from the large number of failures we've seen in even stock applications the current lifters just aren't up to the standards I would hold them to were I going to recommend a DOD setup to customers.

OP Here
Finally made it to the track after dod delete work.
Ran 12.72 @ 111 MPH on street tires.
I know it can do better but for now I'm just happy to get into the 12's!!!

As thrilled as I was last year hitting the 423 HP mark, of course I wanted more.
After a pass down the track at the end of last year, running 12.72, I felt based on the power I make and comparing to other G8's with similar mods it should be running better ET's.
Of course it couldn't be the driver. ...........LOL.
So after doing research on rotating mass of wheel & tire weight; it was time to buy the G8 some new shoes. I needed better tires and lighter wheels to hook better and free up power & torque.
So here is the rundown of what I changed to get more power as follows:
Old setup..........20"x 8" / 20"x 9" Camaro SS wheels with Michelin Pilot A/S tires.
New setup........18"x 9" / 18" x 10" D-Force wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
The rear Camaro rear weight is around 30 lbs. and the new D-Force rear wheels weight 18.9 lbs.
Now for the results!!!! Old Dyno 423 HP / 395 Torque
New Dyno 441 HP / 407 Torque
All tunes and Dyno runs by Brian Turner @ Dyno Tune Motor Sports.
The car hooks great on the street and throttle response has improved.
I know there will be questions so ask away......
In the mean time I'll try to get the grin off my face from my Dyno last Friday!!!!!

I still haven't brought mine to the track yet lol. I have no idea what I would run with my mods but I would keep my fingers crossed for low 12's and maybe under ideal conditions a high 11 run.

Yes, I did run Michelin Pilot Sports.
I wondering if I increase shift point I could get a better mile per hour.
I'm shifting @ 6200 RPM for now.

I have mine set to shift at 6500. Getting the car to shift into 4th helped me pick up a tenth or so. Haven't tracked it with the stall yet, but from my street tuning it should work about the same.

I do. Pretty much same can as you. Its a strong running cam for not being very big. I'm still running stock heads and intake. I did a little home porting of the TB, but my best ET was 114.27 I think. That's why I think you have more in there. Im sure the head work is hurting your grip off the line then what my car was doing. Barely any spin, and go! Too bad it doesn't do that since the stall.
