Default Should I Buy A CTS V or G8 GT?

Going to be using it mostly as a daily driver. Both seem to be really fun cars.

I have both. It depends on which V, and if you want a larger back seat and truck.

I've been thinking V1 since the prices of G8's and V1's are pretty close. Greed4speed, are you crazy about the V2 and did you own a V1 before that?

No, I had a 00SS with a 408 before. The V is very nice, a much better car, and will put a smile on my face, but I do miss the raw power of the stroker in a lighter car.

The V1's have a weak rear and the fix isn't cheap. They're also M6 only. Just somethings to consider.

G8 is a nice car. So is the v1. Either way you cannot go wrong.
My g8 now is just unreal and still an awesome daily with all the work I have done

First gen Vs are junky cars. The G8 is whole generation ahead of it. The GTO was even a generation ahead of it inside.

V2, G8, then V1. Wait a year and you can try out the SS?

They revised the rears in the CTS-V, so it's not as much of a concern and I wouldn't call them 'junky', although depends on your perceptions...Mine never gave me any problems and was a fun car that handled really well! The brakes are awesome, too, but sounds like the G8 has good brakes too. They are two different cars, really, but IMO can't go wrong with either one.

I personally prefer a 6-speed, so that makes it an easier decision if it's that important to you, although the GXP was available in 6-speed manual, but good luck finding one that the owner isn't smoking crack on the $

G8 over V1. GXP is awesome middle of the road between GT and V2. V1's are WAY over priced IMO.

Do you like stick and navigation? Then buy a CTS-V. If you like automatic and minimal electronics then get a G8.

A friend of mine drives a CTS-V and his girlfriend drives the G8. Nuff said.

Here is a CTS-V for you that will stomp on GXP's. Go get it.

The assembly, trim, nearly everything about the car is filmsy and badly rendered. That's why I called it junky. They are old GM build quality and design inside and out.

There aren't too many of them, they cost a bit more (if they're nice) and their potential isn't really any greater than the GT.
