I'm sure there are some of you out there who have either experienced this, or did the DoD Delete swap prior to the actual failure... I was not so lucky.
The car is 99% stock with the only exceptions being a CAI and a full tune by Frost. I want to go with the DoD delete kit, but not sure if there are certain "brands" better than others, or what cam to go with... remember, stock heads, stock exhaust... stock everything.

Talk with Geoff @ EPS for a DOD package & cam.
His cam design is easy on the valve train and makes great power.
His knowledge was very helpful in my build for sure.....

You aren't the first and won't be the last to have this problem. Mine failed at 20k miles. All lifters replaced under warranty, cam stayed in.
Recently did the cam at 63k miles. When my tuner pulled the stock cam, the lobe furthest to the rear was beaten up pretty bad and the lifter failed. So, I technically had two failures, but now the DOD crap is out and a real cam is in.

I knew just from the low buzz and minor vibration it sends through the seat and wheel on my 08 GT that cylinder deactivation is no bueno.
I'm thinking of getting a 2014 Escalade before the switch to next gen and they all have DOD now. :-/

I am going to go ahead and get rid of mine now after reading up on how common this is. Might as well, the whole front end is torn off already so should have easy access to pull the cam.

I am going to get the Livernois 2C cam and delete package since I plan on a procharger down the road.
I was considering the LS9 cam swap just not sure that will make me happy until I can get the booooost.

Mine felt sleepy (mostly at freeway speeds) when it's firing on four cylinders. It takes a half-beat for it to "wake up" when you touch the throttle.
I traded my GT for a brand new GXP and imputs felt quicker to me. Fuel consumption between the two cars was virtually the same.

Simply disabling it in the tune won't gain you any power. However, I drove about 25k miles with DOD disabled, headers/exhaust, intake and a tune. I saw better fuel mileage than when the car was stock and with DOD active and picked up a good 70+ horsepower from those mods alone.

I just had a lifter failure but it was the standard LS7 type, cylinder 2. I replaced all the lifters and cam and kept DOD. The engine has 108k hard miles on it and the DOD lifters looked fine.
