G8/SS cam install????
For those of you who have performed this modification yourself or who have helped someone else do it, how did you get around having to unhook Tue AC condensor and lose your freon? If you have pics that would be a HUGE help as well. Thanks in advance.

i did mine with out disconnecting AC. u can move the ac radiator up and over the engine and bungie it the hood strut. its a slight pain as you will need to move it down when working up top and vice versa when working on the front of the motor.

The last cam swap I did on a G8 I was able to lift the condensor upward enough to get the cam installed. If I did it again I would probably just remove the condensor and fill the car back up with freon as it was kind of a pain.

It was easier to remove it and I had a buddy at Cadillac get the freon back in. That way I knew it was done right. Nothing worse than trying a shortcut only to have it cause issues later.

I am just going to remove the nose of the car all the way back to the engine. I wont be completely removing the condensor but it allows for enough movement that it doesnt need to come out all the way and I know I wont damage it. Also will keep me from dragging air hoses over the paint and so on. A little extra work but worth it in the long run IMO. Pulling the nose is actually really easy. Will let you all know how it turns out.

I just finished my cam swap this past weekend. I chose to remove the condenser from the car as I didn't know how long it was going to take me and I didn't want it hanging for days. Even though I guess I could have just dropped it back down when I wasn't working on the car, it just made more sense to take it out. Plus the power steering cooler is built into the bottom of the condenser, so either way that has to be unhooked and I didn't want fluid going everywhere the whole time.
The front fascia didn't need to be pulled to get the cam out, just threw some towels and blankets over it.
