Hey guys i plan on picking up my g8 and dropping it right off to the exhaust shop lol, what would you all think of a 3" true dual setup with an x pipe and sweet thunders like the f-bodies are running? Would it sound good or be god aweful?
Im looking for something that is pretty quiet on the highway, but has a deep rumble at idle and screams at WOT, asking alot i know

Wait for the Magnaflow catback to come out.
With the setup you are talking about I would be worried about how bad it sounds when DOD is activated and you are cruising on only four cylinders.

A 3" system is probably going to be too large for stock HP numbers. I'd go with the 2.5" system. Also you need to be aware that when the car switches over to DoD there will be a change in the tone of the exhaust and possibly a vibration. It's not that bad, but it does change the note of the exhaust.
Congrats on the new car. You will love it.

Dude that is the perfect setup. I got longtubes and H-Pipe on my car with sweet thunders and it sounds great. Not really sure how it will sound with that specific motor. Should probably sound like a beefed up LS1 or LS2 if I am guessing correctly. Do not get Magnaflow exhaust unless you are getting the series 1 race mufflers.
I vote Sweet Thunders H-Pipe not X and dump that **** before the axel.
PS
What is the exhaust setup out the back. Duel tip? Not familiar with the G8 yet.

it has dual dual tips out the back, dumps before the axle will look like a firebird with dumps, just 2 big *** gaps lol. My truck has the same motor with no mufflers and it doesnt sound too bad in 4 cyl mode, kind of like a jake brake on long down grades haha
why H and not X?

Im a fan of magnaflow. Good power, sounds decent at idle and deep/badass at WOT. Im not a fan of the super loud ones for a car that I own and drive frequently.

sweet thunders are not the best sounding.. not even in the top 5.
and ignore the terds. a muffler is not going to affect your HP untill your in the 600+ rwhp range in terms of aftermarket mufflers. and in that case slowmasters still sound the best.
i have sweetthunders because of clearance issues with others.. and just isnt a clean sound.
