Whats the difference? Whats the difference between the 04-05-06 GTO?
If someone says LS1/LS2 they should put a bag over there head lol
besides taillights and single exhaust/hood scoops

the dark tail lights were only '06
the '05-'06 has the LS2 (bag over head). it also has
18" wheel option
beefier drive shaft and half shafts
bigger brakes
drive-by-wire (yuk)
hood scoops (yuk again) with option to delete (yea)
color option differences
split dual exhaust instead of '04 single side dual exhaust
2.5" instead of '04 2.25" exhaust
dead pedal on floor
different font on dash (whoopee
) and higher redline
the '06 also had in addition to the 'o5 differences
lighted steering wheel controls
door lock button
color options again
black tail lights

pro and cons to both IMHO. the 50 HP difference between the LS1 & LS2 seems to be a big deal but those 18 cubes don't make much difference if you're going to mod. i'd buy the cleanest, lowest mileage one you can find that you like. the differences in years IMHO don't matter that much

I've come to the point where I was about to buy an SUV/truck but I dont need to buy one anymore, so I can stick to my plan of picking up a GTO.
I've done all the research you can do, read all the many page'd threads you can read about who prefers what, pros and cons etc... and I've made the decision that I'll buy what I can find cause I'am only buying the GTO for daily use. It just has to be an M6 and not black.
If your stuck imbetween the two, go test drive both and make up your mind from there. The best advice in my opinion. I've driven both M6 LS1 and M6 LS2 and honestly I couldn't tell the difference.

i would of liked a ls2 but for the price difference i can say i am happy with what i have. you can always buy a hood and the car wont look plain if thats your fight. and with about 1 grand in parts u will be as fast
