Even a fairly mild cam will require for you at the least to upgrade the valve springs and preferably the pushrods too.
That said, I had a Thunder Racing 224 cam for a few years in my 04 goat and loved it. Tons of torque and basically no loss of driveability. The Texas Speed 228 is another good cam if you want the next step up.
Is this a M6 or A4? A daily driver? Do you have any specific power goals?

You'll want a camshaft kit with the valve springs and pushrods (see link if you decide to get one of the Texas Speed cams).

Then all you'll need is the Basic Camshaft Bolt & Gasket Kit like you mentioned.

The crank bolt is a matter of personal preference. Both times I've swapped cams I just got the standard GM bolt. As for which cam, that's your choice too. With a M6, I might lean towards the 228. It's not really a mild cam, more of a moderate cam. Not small, but certainly not big either. A nice middle of the road cam that makes great power. As for LSA, the smaller you go, the more lumpy and rougher the idle (audible lope). The bigger the LSA, the smoother the idle. The LSA also moves the torque range around a bit too.

i also want to put a cam in my GTO. i posted a thread up here a long time ago also asking for help. mine is also a daily driver but an A4. i was told that the streetsweeper HT was a good cam and that is what i decided to go with. also gonna put a 2800 stall in.
