Ok I have an 04 M6 Looking for a better bottom end for the GTO... Just wondering about some things. What would be the best gearing?
couple of things to consider:
Not taking to the track
get up to speed quicker
Not loose my top end speed
What has been your experience with these gearings in your GTO??

Damn that's expensive!! Yea.. i'd go with the 3.90's out of those three.. prob 410's if those were an option..
and think of the time you spend in your car and where the rpms/speed that you spend the most time at... is it getting off the line and lower rpms such as daily driving, or top end, ***** to the wall runs where you're mph'ering? You'll enjoy the steeper gears and don't give anythought to high end loss..

4.10's are possible but also dont wanna kill Gas Mileage. My friend Just changed to 3.73's in his 2V GT Pony and He was running 100 in 3rd gear. I was like WTF. It runs good too.

There are 3.91's.....
I have 3.73's and they're great. I have a cam and some 243's. No loss of top end, thing hauls *** on the street for what it is. I honestly don't know if I'd have done 3.91's or not the 3.73's are great.

3.91s shouldn't really hurt your top speed at all, in theory. Most T-56 cars top out in fifth because they don't generate enough torque to accelerate beyond the top of 5th gear once you shift into 6th. However, with 3.91s you might end up shifting to 6th at a lower speed and attaining your top speed in 6th gear. Your top end could be higher, lower, or the same as it was prior to the gear change. As far as gas mileage goes, honestly, who cares
but seriously, the performance increase should outweigh the mileage decrease.

end of story sounds like you still want to be able to run up to about 160ish put 3:73's in it even if you are an M6 you will pick up speed quicker and still be able to run a good top speed. I have 4:10's in my m6 and getting to 160 isnt the same back when i had the 3:42's. I wish i would have put 3:73's. If you were using the car alot at the track then 3:90 or higher would be better for that.
