Custom air damn for hardcore intake
I am working on building a custom air damn for the 5.7 hard core cold air intake i know the filter is down in an area where there is cool air but i am wanting to get forced air into the filter while providing a little more protection from water and debris as this is my daily driver. Just began this project any thoughts are greatly appreciated let me know what ya think or if its even worth doing ??? End product will be made out of alluminum.

Make that into fiberglass in black and I might just have to copy that. But I'm going to try and put it behind the fog light since I removed mine. But still use the stock airbox.

this is my daily driver and i would like to keep my fog lights i am revising the air damn so it sits flush with the bottom of the bumper and just has a 6" wide scoop that comes down about 1.5" lower than the bumper and i will be puting some sort of mesh across it to keep larger debris out i will have pictures posted of the finished product hopefully in a week. also i will be wraping my entire hardcore intake with the thermal heat wrap and using a 7" k&n cone filter.

I ran with a scoop under my car when I had that style intake on. It helps get cool air in quicker than not having it when moving but do not expect to see any air pressure increases from it (I've tested it). I also blocked off the radiator slot under the car on that side and ventilated the skid plate so the hot air blowing out of the radiator didn't get sucked in the intake. I made mine out of a soft black plastic and that was a good thing as you will scrape on things from time to time and mine would just bounce back. The length and number of bends take away from its effectiveness. I had a 4" tubing intake but scrapped it for the OTRCAI which works better.

My friend installed a vararam and relocated his battery to the back and his engine bay looks so empthy right now. It frees up a lot of room going OTR.

If i remember right your "Ram air" idea isnt going to gain you much theres a few guys on here that presented a study that showed you would have to be going over 200mph for the ram air effect to even gain any little bit of forced induction. But good luck with the cold air intake.

Thx the custom air box is more to protect the filter from water/debris more so then a ram air effect just figured a scoop wouldnt hurt having a lil extra cool air flow in there but mainly to protect filter

way back in the day i purchased a weapon r kit.. (i know).. but it was the typical air kit, but had a duct style tube that hooked up to a scoop just like what you got..
i mounted it to the grill so you really couldn't see it..but, i give them credit because it did only suck air through the front..
