Darn close to 300 at the wheels stock.

Derf on LS1GTO got 305 rwhp and 328 rwtq. Un-modded 6M. Great baseline. He's pumped.

So... what does everyone have to say about this "revised" cam they were advertising? Those numbers are all the same as a stock f-body. I'm sure there are a lot of GTO guys thinking they have this 350hp beast which is WAY better than the LS1 in the Camaro...

Any thoughts from your crew cvp?

Default that seems low

That seems low, I have a 2002 and also had a 2001 WS6 M6 and stock, the new one pulls 326/340 and the '01 pulled 325/345 AT THE WHEELS!
I thought for sure GM would put these GTO's out with more...

Actually I am not aware af anyone that is looking at the GTO as an f-body replacement except those that don't like the GTO. It is basically in a class by itself right now. It is a combination of power, quickness, handling, and estetics for a price around $33. Other cars can beat it in one area or another but not the total package.

I'm not saying a replacement, but using this 350hp rating to make themselves think it's faster than the outdated ****-box a lot of GTO guys think the f-body is.

I'm just trying to stir some constructive stuff up

It probably makes the same HP at the flywheel as your LS1 f-body, but it loses more to drivetrain losses. IRS soaks up more power than a solid axle.

The different cam was to boost the torque curve. WHile it makes the same peak torque as you report from you Camaro, it makes it through the IRS and it likely has a fatter torque curve.

I've never seen anyone claim that the LS1 in the GTO is a tremendous improvement over an F-body LS1, only that the cam is slightly revised in favor of low end torque.

BTW, what the hell makes some of the the 01 and 02 cars dyno 325 at the rear wheels stock? My 99 pulled 307 rwhp with a lid and a cat back. And that was pretty much the middle of what all the other 99s were pulling on a Dynojet. Do the LS6 intake manifold and the "241" casting cylinder heads that the factory started putting on in 01 make all that difference?

This was just posted by MRR in the tech section. I think the GTO is about where we all thought is would be.

2002 Z28 A4 Dynoed 281 RWHP Bone Stock W/2000 Miles on the clock.

I do know what dmspd is referring to. The early press releases said that the GTO's 5.7 would have a revised cam to elicit more torque across the rev range. Now did anyone actually believe that GM would custom make 18,000 LS1's for the GTO? It's the same LS1 that last appeared in the F-body.

Plain and simple... i'm just glad it's making power. It brings more people who hadn't considered a GM before.

...and it's not some ***** car with GTO slapped on the side.

Of course we've gone over the looks of the car countless times in this forum, and they are only subjective opinions. The new GTO runs well though, and that IS a fact. Anyone who would disagree is ignorant.

I love the GTO. I can't wait to get one. I'm probably gonna wait for the 2005 model though. More options and better pricing
