taking out pass. seat for track. avoid air bag code?
So I had my e-brake mess up one time. Fairly commen on our goats. I found a write up on how to fix it. I had to take the seat out and it said do not start the car with out the seat in because it will throw an airbag code if it is not plugged in. I wanna take it out just for the track. Is there a way around the code? If not how hard is it to clear the code? Also is it really worth taking the back seat out? How much does it weigh? I took the rear back rest out once it didn't weigh nothing. Thanks in advance!

Wished I knew about this earlier. I took out my passenger seat to race at the track. And I still get the error everytime I start the car with the seat back in. But I'm sure I can go to AZ and have them clear it?

All you have to do is remove the seat belt receptacle from the seat track and plug it back in BEFORE turning the key on or you will have a code that takes forever to go away.

if you are referring to the back seat, the bottom has pull cable on both sides, pull it out and lift up on seat, once the bottom is out, there is two, bolts, maybe 15mm at the center and bottom of the upper backs. remove them, then the seat backs lift UP and OUT.

Well I put my bolt on GTO in the 11's tonight. According to records on the GTO forums I'm the 4th fastest bolt on GTO in the country. The first slot was ran at Atco and the other two I can knock out so no worries if I only get second in my quest.
I forgot about this and I do have the error now but oh well. I'll get it taken care of before I park it for the winter.

The easiest way to do this if you are taking them out for the track is to pull the airbag fuse before turning on the car and replace it after putting the seat back in before you turn on the car. While the fuse is out the warning will come on but after putting everything back it will turn back off without the need for the tech II or pulling the seatbelt harness off. Of course this is more dangerous, I only do it for runs at the track and everything is back in before I leave. Never drive around that way.
