Other than being illegal probably not. You also will not gain anything either maybe 2hp. Switch out the mids to JBA or just get headers with catless mids if that is what your going for.

If you want it louder, just switch out the muffs or do a muff. delete...then you don't have to dick around with the CEL light.

Removing the cats will hardly change the sound, you have to change or remove the mufflers to get a noticeable sound difference.

Straightpiping cats = straightpiping mufflers, $$-wise...it's just pipe.

Like the RHG8 said, a muffler delete will change the sound alot more than a cat delete.

I have headers with catless mids and it throws my check engine light.

im running LT's catless mids and i dont have any check engine light. Of course i have a dyno tune which he might have tuned out the 02's but not sure. Mine is cammed, catless, and muffler delete and everyone goes crazy when they hear my car idle. It's fun roaring at mustangs and scaring the **** out of them

By 2004 GM factory cats had improved dramatically from what was installed back in the 80's, for a stock displacement, stock cam, etc the cats aren't much of a limit. Without some tuning after the removal, it will probably make less power.

If you want to go fast for cheap, the answer is in a blue bottle..
